ordered a few 50amp 5gage quick connects so i can drop the plow.  I think a 400$ XJ will be procured next year for plow duties if im still in the same location.  Too easy.

oil change
trans fluids topped off

looks like it needs trans cooler lines and at least one ball joint
plow frame attached
cleaned out
needs a new switch for heater blower and should be good for winter duty minus a valid inspection sticker

failed inspection for multiple front end issues.  if i thought he was going to actually look at it i wouldn't have bothered lol
all front end parts and brakes ordered.  i think i have unit bearings in stock.

silly that entire V8 steering is cheaper than one replacement tie rod end for the rugged ridge system thats on the jeep.
bah.
between this and a new windsheild, should have just bought another jeep!

got a sticker yesterday, reg renewed today!

good for another 2 years whooo

anyone ever adjust the front band on a 42re?  looks fairly straight forward once you manage to get access to it.

i have shudder/ slipping from stop to 1-2MPH if load is anything over minimal untill speed gets above 3-5mph.  not RPM related.

adjusted bands on the 44RE in my Dakota a few times. Easy procedure: tighten until touching (I think it's 12 or 18 inch-pounds or similar) and back off prescribed number of turns, and tighten the lock nut. One is on the side of the trans and one is in the pan IIRC.

ya did some reading.  its just buried to get to.

nothing that clearly relates to any symptom i have.  replaced the bag of normal parts you through at a 42RE  and nothing changed.  has not changed its performance or issue in 5 years, same issue with prevous owner also.

last issue with the jeep id like to fix after putting glass and parts into it this time around.  bah

Kim's Venza developed similar symptom forever ago. Toyota said full trans rebuild, it's gonna grenade within months. She's still driving it without having touched that $3500 job as far as I know. Probably put 60k on it since. It was light throttle 2-3 shift on a 6 speed. Felt fine in as full-boogie as a 2.7L 4cyl can do.

42RE is a lot easier to find than an AWD Toyota trans. Shame they're probably all raped.

i have a known good spare sitting downstairs same year.  lost the known good TQ in the move though.   pulling and swap is a pain with the long arm kit it has installed so that's why it hasn't occurred. Not hard failing also makes swap effort not exciting.

The shudder still occurs when shifted in “low”?

I still think it’s something to do with drivetrain. I remember it’s transmission mount is very ‘soft’ and allowing a ton of movement. Ratchet strap the t-case down onto the trans crossmember tight and go test drive and see what change.

not going to waste my time with thinking it has anything to do with drive train.  100% obvious a trans issue.  yes occurs in D and 1, but seems better or different in 1.
