looks like im checking some tail harness connections and changing a speed sensor

could it be the transmission itself is fucked and a new rebuilt tranny fixes your troubles?

ill pull the pan and adjust the rear band- that's the last thing i can do, then im done again trying to fix it. 


not worth pulling and swapping without a catastrophic failure, especially with 3x the work involved with the long arm kit in the way.  it drives fine for me, and even plows snow fine if you are not a moron.

Rear band has nothing to do with your symptom. It’s only used when shifted into R or L

That doesn’t make sense. Shifter position doesn’t impact what the trans does in 1st gear, whether in low/1/2/D

I don’t know what band is which but 1 and R typically share the lowest gear

no L selection in this application.  12DNR


shifts and acts much better when manually shifted.  still has the issue though to some extent.

Sorry, L and 1 means same thing. Service manual call 1st gear selection as “low”, so...

The rear band sparsely get used as it only engages when manually shifted into 1st/L or R. Pretty much why it’s buried inside as it hardly ever need adjusting for most people, or why you see a lot of old Ram plow trucks for sale saying “no reverse” from shifting between D and R all night long.
