Oil just barely showing on very very tip of dipstick, unless that's from the tube and it's not showing at all. Has (slightly reduced) pressure.

I took a peek through Smike's old 5.3 throttle body. Oil every where. I still recommend to inspect/eliminate PCV. A catch can probably will well to do that.

Kinda that's the point? Aggressive driving/severe service (aka high rpm romping) aggravate LS's infamous oil consumption issue.

Did you look at your old 5.3's throttle body yet? I clearly saw oil running down into intake from passenger side valve cover. Don't even need to open the throttle blade.

Quick search on pirate 4x4 say to cap passenger side valve cover port and throttle body port and for the PCV there's few options I found;
1) install a catch can and vent to atmosphere & cap the PCV port on top of the intake manifold
2) install filter on driver side PCV port to vent the crankcase and cap the PCV port on top of the intake manifold
3) install a catch can/oil separator between valve cover port and PCV port on top of the intake manifold.

I will do option 1, to keep oil from running into intake for in case a roll over should occur.

I’m not likely to swap a motor before next use, could be interesting to experiment.

I might need a 4qt catch can though. Maybe less without vacuum on it though.

Idler and tensioner were both shot again. Deleted pcv (both sides existing valve cover fittings to separate slobber tubes. 3 sides & down). Fresh plugs. Need to make sure battery behaves after a night of trickle. Took a few minutes for the alternator to do its thing, not sure why. One fan that has been cranky needed to be freed up for a second or third time. Need to check trans fluid and do tools/tool storage and I think that’s about it.

No immediate decrease in smoke with pcv delete. Doubt it is related at all. Could still help a bit if there’s oil pooled in the intake but I doubt it. I’ll be bringing up the rear.

Confirmed dead alternator. Again.

Not sure what I’m doing wrong. I don’t remember where I got this one. Probably have something under warranty from any possible source by now.
