I say find a good used take-out motor if it’s just a basic rebuild for that kind of money.

Performance build, use the existing motor in the buggy if it’s not too whopped out, or find at least a good core to build to avoid machining cost.

I’m talking heads and cam. Assumptions are safe to make.

My compression is low but even as of September. 120-130 iirc. Dry numbers.

looks like prob 3500 in parts plus whatever machining is needed to have a descent 5.3, assuming short block is good? or similar money for a tired 200k newer tech motor, or a fresher low mile older motor.

ignoring the 6 speed advantage of the newer whole truck with tired motor option, I kinda like the rebuild-existing option.

this counts on my loose 205 issues being all bearings and no hard parts too.

time feels short on this already.

bumpstop rebuild parts ordered. asked brian what oil is in my shocks, I plan to just match that for stock.

pricing tire options. looks like I could get (6) bias non-comp treps for right around $3k. I don't think that's in the cards especially with engine whatevers, so I'm hunting best price on (2) matching Toyos. Should be around $750 shipped, probably from Goforth.

Didn't accomplish anything this weekend other than getting the DD VW running (swapped fuel pump from parts car) so I'm not even close to pulling driveline out of the car.

I missed "rebuild 205" on the earlier list, but that's needed. rear output moves around an awful lot.

Picking up a 2004 6.0 from Shortsville Sunday afternoon. 1250 including harness and computer. Tired of dicking around, need to get something under way. Maybe next year for the fancy stuff.

should be able to get some scratch back from harness and computer etc. Have a couple other computers to post too.

I believe I'll want to get my ECU reflashed to go from 5.3 to 6.0?

Scott Goforth was able to use his distributor to get tires transferred to Rochester. No shipping charges. $315ea for 2 new Toyos, pick up Monday over by the airport. Cannot beat that. FB Messenger and text is the way to go for him.

Chipping away at removing things. Motor shuffled to Gus. Lights up in garage to make working suck less.

Floors out. Shifters almost out. Half of fluids drained. Be in need of an engine crane soon.
