having a bit of trouble with the windshield frame at this point actually..
new seal and aftermarket parts sometimes make for a tight fit...

ill be playing around with that today/tomorrow..
I never wanted a red car.. always thought they were tacky and common...
I now have 4 very not common cars and they are all red.. :o

aftermarket jeep body parts are made primarily by 1 manufacturer... and they suck..

this frame was from JeepGlass.com and supposedly was the "other" guys product so I decided to give it a whirl..
bear in mind, the hinges are original, frame - aftermarket, body - aftermarket, top and doors (if they ever go on - original), cowl seal - original and not perfect..... its going to be a hot mess..

something i learned when building boats- you cant go nuts with impact screw drivers or impacts with SS hardware.  slow by hand keeps the heat and gauling down

+1.

Just a little dab of grease or loctite will avoid galling when they're not going in at 200rpm

Drilled and cut the holes for the heater ductwork..
New defroster duct installed.

The Jeep Air system insists on insulation in the firewall area to help with the AC..
I took this a few steps further..  I used a combination of Dynamat asphalt paper and 1/2 closed cell Dynaliner padding..
When I restored the Land Rover I took sound proofing fairly seriously.. managed to get the decibels and heat more importantly to a manageable level.  The upper cowl area is a ripe place for vibration, started there and got a little carried away with the stuff...

Everything firewall mounted is now mounted through the insulation levels..  I was planning on using some aluminum tape to seal the edges like I did the firewall heat shielding, but I think I might go a different rout with a metal trim edge to make a clean transition between firewall and foot box.

Starting to come together...
used nylon washers on the dash bolts to protect the paint.. actually gave it a nice look..
Mounted the bulkhead connection low enough that it can be serviceable without removing the dash and wont be air bubble issues with coolant lines.
AA windshield latches working nicely.. still need to bring a door home to check angle of windshield frame.
Slight color variation between frame and dash.... dash pad should be a nice visual brake between the two.

Looking to get the column mounted tonight.. want to sit on a milk crate and pretend.. :)

Any gasket to be installed between the windshield frame and cowl?  If so, will the Rhinoliner thickness be an issue?

already in there...
took some weight and pulling to get the new gasket in place.. some technique used when I replaced the on in my YJ....

the bedliner in the area is very, very thin... more of a color with texture than a thick layer of anything.

Really looking sharp, I can't wait for the next time I get to see it in person. That firewall treatment should really be a great improvement. If you wanted a little bit more you could always do some foil back on the engine side as well - skipping that little corner were the valve cover may occasionally touch for clearance reasons :)
