That’s kinda impressive but sucks that it had to break at KOH.

Did you broke stub shaft in that spindle in past?

car has eaten 2 spindles from yukon chromo explosions before, but not since 300M rcvs.  also they just get mangled in the spindle bearing area not really damaged structurally.  this one just plan broke from impact

dropped off for some prep, mostly he has been fighting dragging rear brakes

got fresh fuel lines and filter
shortened pushrod on brake booster
hooked back up right rear brake line
flushed system and bleed with DOT5.1
welded up exhaust cracks
bolt check
changed out loose 7/8" top lock on steering

should be prepped for AOAA Memorial weekend

well the axle that was a brand new build after the last post above lasted 40 miles and then he hit something center mass at pace and broke the axle housing.

1410 yoke trashed, gear set trashed, housing junk.

fresh housing stripped and prepped, good parts removed from old axle.  ready to start welding and assembly tomorrow.

i think it was a new setup 2 races and a rec wheel trip.  I clean an prep gear sets very well, and actually use oil based paint for marking compound, so not really surprised its still in there.  All preloads and bearings tight still.   could be lack of break in but most likely just impact failure.  Ill try to add even more preload for next setup.  he has a spare gear set on the shelf coming tomorrow am.

matts comment was "probably shouldnt have tried to finish the last race in FWD"  lol
