no issues this weekend other than ride home my EGT gage kept alarming at 1200+  and my foot and load was not agreeing.  backed off on hills just in case but even on flat ground grade or even coast it was still reading 1050+  doesnt make sence

landed home after 3-5minute cool was reading 800 still..... normally runs down to 350-400 in a few minutes at adle.

ill check tomorrow what ambient reads 60 or like 360 and just order another gage.

new in 2023 gage bah

Would be hard for a high pressure injector to stick enough to cause that for real while still holding rail pressure wouldn’t it?

800miles this weekend no issues to report.  new exhaust prob brought EGTs back to where remember and no 1200+ alarms anymore.

ordered another EGT gage mostly because of lazyness and 35$ is easier try a 3rd probe than fish new things through dash ect.

last trip coming home, watched it blink to 1300 then 1800 like an on off switch, so at least im 100$ confident its nothing to do with the truck and just stupid amazon parts being flakey.

i guess if it does it again, ill swap the cab parts with the two new ones ill have and then if that fails ill source a new setup.

because i like to do things 4 times the hard way.

Noticed a noise/skip in 4x4 when i got the truck just a hair stuck this week.

I pulled the front diff cover and all looks ok, oil was brand new looking

i dont see any front drive shaft or front axle ujoint play

Transfer case fluid was about 1/2" below fill plug, and was brown / smelled burnt ATF

changed that with the only thing documented, 70$ for 2 quarts mopar Tcase fluid for 44-47 case.
im thinking the chain is worn and stretched and slips under load?  does it in 4 low and 4 high idling with some ebrake applied at random times.
just remembered to look at your history on that chain skip noise. I overshot 2h for 4h last night moving from tank dump to the shop, and was in 4x4 on pavement with camper on. seems bad. sounded bad. I think I need to check the unknown history probably junkyard used case on my truck for similar chain wear.

mine sounded like a D30 stripping teeth off a ring gear or the noise a steel cable winch makes skipping layers under load

no sign of wear on sprockets/gears when looked at.  i couldn't really decide from the fill or drain plug if it felt loose prior to disassembly.

new chain def fixed it, no noise ever since including 4low with trailer on pavement with tire chirping loads / tight maneuvers

never could find a fluid advertised as correct other than dealer fluid.

bummer

low coolant light on way down.  added coolant

low coolant light on way back home.  added coolant.

dipsticks normal.  looking like there are some 1/2" steam lines along pass fender with various plastic tees and clamps.  reservoir top seam also noted coolant wet.

no active leaks found hot running.  leak must be very slow or pressure/load based.

no repeated EGT weirdness.  new EGT probe / harness / gage sitting in box in dash pocket.
