over all how is your waste oil burner doing?  hows the weekly maintenance going?

i welded up a bigger burn pot for mine a few days a go and it rips pretty good now.  just left a 65 degree shop, 59 at the far corner.  made some adjustments but burning that solvent stuff at 50/50 oil and seems to burn cleaner/hotter.

when it ran out, it took a long time to work all the air out and have it auto-fire like it should. About a week of coming home and having to prime it. which took 4 seconds, but kept it from firing.

have not been vacuuming it out, amount of crap in the burn chamber has been very steady and reasonable.

I'm super happy with it overall. Love that it's on a thermostat and has been 92% set-n-forget and just works.

Waste oil furnace sucks to bleed air from.

Also found a bunch of water in an oil barrel today

Been having some issues and vacuum was high between filter and pump. Cleaned 100 micron filter screen. Vacuum is still his (20-22” instead of typical 5-7”)

There’s something I need to look at in the tank to remove the draw tube. Won’t unscrew: it hits the side. No idea why there’s something perpendicular to the draw straw, and it wasn’t obvious when the level was low.

Great when working. Frustrating when it’s not.

Furnace running just fine after cleaning an additional 100 micron stainless screen on the in-tank pickup. -3 outside, shop is at 52. Haven’t been out there to check on it since before dinner so I’m confident it has been through several cycles.

Slab heat holds it at 42-43 turned all the way down.

Good setup to have the backup. I’ve got no complaints.

Burning about 50# of wood pellets per week heating 4-5 days in the shop office. Takes an hour to go from 50 to 65. Slowly closes in on 80 when it’s warmer out, holds a steady 72 on the thermostat setting when it’s cold or windy enough.

I think I’m gonna wish for chains on the plow truck.

Fair bit of ice under the snow that didn’t fully melt. I think I screwed myself not cleaning up a few days after the last snow.

If the two pallets in the shop weren’t pretty buried I might put a ton of pellets in the bed

hmm. i plow up hill and dont seem to have an issue with the ZJ in its under geared open diffed short course tire, slipping slush box mode.  i have found plowing in low range helps keep RPMs up for battery charging and extended use, but not really needed for power.

just put my unit in the barn tonight with its monthly battery over night battery charge prep.

winning for not having to brush snow off tomorrow on it.

Mine is on charge in the shop too.
Didn’t quite start yesterday when I went to put it in the shop.

going through a lot of waste oil, I think it'll turn out that what I got with the place is 1 winters' worth. I haven't closely logged it, but the absolute count of empty barrels and totes come May will tell the story.

Pumping in the last three bbl today before I need to fork the tote over. I don't have anywhere near enough hose to reach those last three so that'll be annoying.

finally got a 120v pump up and running for oil transfer. moved 20-30 gallons of the thickest stuff I have just now and that's not bad.

I'm tired of fighting with and failing on my red fuel station. I'm glad this went better than that has.
