added a Hayden Automotive 3653 Adjustable Thermostatic Fan Control switch for high speed on the fan.

I just needed to add an override relay to my existing setup.

ALL components installed.

Just need to bleed the brakes one more time and install the tins.

looking forward to giving this thing a good flogging and test out my coolant system...

Planned upgrades for this pig:

1) PSC Power Steering Pump -  1500 PSI / High Flow

factory pump is dying/dead     cant find a good source for the P185 pump
figured its time to step it up

http://www.polyperformance.com/PSC-80-Up-Dodge-GM-Hi-Performance-P-Pump-w-o-Remote-Feed-Can

2) Stewart Stage 1 High Flow water pump and High Flow 180 thermostat

Looking for better cooling on full throttle assaults.
may also incorporate electronic thermostat to engage high speed cooling fan

Flow in GPM (Gallons Per Minute)
RPM    Competitors Pump    Stewart Stage 1
1000    17                              18
1500    25                              32
2000    34                              42
2500    42                              55
3000    51                              65
3500    59                              77
4000    68                              90
4500    76                            101
5000    85                            112
5500    93                            122
6000    102                            132
6500    110                            138
7000    119                            148
7500    127                            157
8000    139                         158

3) New 1-1/8" bore, brake master cylinder for more volume.  ( less pedal travel )    was 1" bore

also adding mechanical stop to brake pedal to stop pedal stroke before bottoming out master cylinder bore.

i have found that in a panic stop situation the brake booster allows for enough force to bottom out the master cylinder.

4) heat shield to block heat soaking from coolant fan blowing on the fuel cell.

only a small part of the cell is exposed to the fan,   however i have noticed a pressurized fuel cell spitting gas out the vent tube.

All parts sitting on the work bench.

buggy 100%

I was lazy and did not return the PSC power steering pump.    So i installed it.
Steering is back to 100%,   maybe even a little better...
I did take it apart first to inspect it.  It is a new pump, not reman.  It looks to be built for PSC based on the stamping i saw on it.
It has the pressure and flow maxed out to the P132 pumps upper limits.   1500 PSI and 4-5 GPM

I will confirm this with my testing equipment once i get it set up.

This will be a good test for my buggy because I can buy a new P132 pump (standard automotive) and modify it myself to get the same results.
At a cost of $42...   not $166 form PSC.

Upgrades report.

cooling system worked great.

almost too good,  system was running so cool i think it was bumping back into open loop mode.
Needs a little fine tuning on the fan controller.

Steering was perfect.
Brakes were great.

I did notice that my alternator was only putting out 13vdc

i checked the amperage draw on the alternator with fans on high and lights on.   74 amps !

Stock alternator is 105 amps

Ordered a new 220amp alternator.

High output alternator fail.

This one is sold by Powermaxusa.
Specs: CS130 220 amp @ 1200 RPM
They use an overdrive pulley to do that.

i installed this alternator and tested it for amps, volts, heat.

Results:

 Idle @ 675 RPM:  105A  /  14.5V  / 238 F case temp
        @ 1500 RPM: 217A  /  13.8V /  252 F case temp

This alternator runs extremely HOT!

Next, I started recording CAN data and let the engine come up to temp and heat soak everything.

I found many voltage drop outs.

So, back in the box it goes to be returned.

I dont know the root cause of the issue and i really dont care.   I just know that the alternator would stop charging for no other reason than maybe it was over heated.

Here is a zoomed in view of the data for one of the drop outs.

Alternator update.

This is a CS130  140 amp   By POWERMASTER sold by Summit

I did the same testing and found no drop outs.
This one is a keeper.

Upgraded my charging wire to 4 awg.
