thing was humming along great this weekend...
runs and drives great.. need to swap out the hoses and O2 sensor..

noticed a slight noise in gear.. seems to be coming form the trans... unsure if it just started or??

always been looking for a AX5/231 anyway...   ;)

gear set shouldnt be a problem- have the shim kit for it?  i think my Dana30 stuff is beyond gone.

whats the door hinge problem?  they usually suck and snap off

I have a timken rebuild kit i keep on the shelf in my garage.. should have everything..
wont the shims be reused from the old one?

I got a set of NOS door hinges.. they are sagging and I dont get a good seal...
caused me to tweak the front fender.. that I also have a new one for..

need a few shims to do it 95% of a 1000$ gear install in 15 minutes once tore down, or i can throw it in as is and it will be noisy and most likely fail pinion bearings down the road.

you know more than me... gears scare me..

it is in a truck that will only see 4wd if it gets stuck or I need to drive a pickup in the winter...

if you have the install kit throw it in- i will only use a few shims from it if needed and send it back.  i might have what i need.  i have been tearing down scrap axles and just keeping the parts on the shelf since Bill and I always need them it seems.
