just bolt the cross member to the case / trans as needed, drill new holes in the frame

the rubber 2 bolt mount only uses one ear on the trans.  the plate bolts to the trans on both sides, shares one of the ears, and the other side through bolts with a nut to the plate factory.

there is a different mount listed in the FSM for a CJ with a 4 speed...
bolts right to the stock adapter...
crossmember might be relocated as well....

used Advance Adapters universal crossmember mount... (for the time being)

still haven't mounted trans to or changed placment of crossmember.
want to get the body mocked up now and check tranny tunnel height.

found out it is a scout adapter plate thus the problems I am having with finding a correct Jeep mount...

ordered a scout mount before I commit to a mounting solution...
looking forward to seeing what issues im going to have with the body now :)

and its deff been a while since I've done stuff like this...
constant fitting and refitting...
stock frame and aftermarket body never make for an easy installation..

Ill post some pics later.. but might end up needing a custom crossmember.
Want to keep as close to stock (period correct) appearance as I can..

I set 4 threaded rod guides to raise and lower the body on, helped keep it straight and made the 10 up and downs easier..

4" hole saw centered the shift tower

Took a stock tunnel cover and traced on the floor to get a rough cutout section.
Shit tower wasn't dead center, but close enough to make a template.
Jigsaw took care of the transmission opening.

I removed the crossmember since I still don't have an acceptable transmission mount and used a floor jack to raise and lower the drivetrain through various angles.
Drivetrain clearance looks good now.. Might need to take just a hair more off toward the firewall..
Got the body to sit almost within stock guidelines... About 5/8 - 7/8"s off the frame...

fuck prothane...

they make 2 spacers that are only available in kits...
one about an inch tall and on about one and a quarter..

they don’t sell them individually, only in lots of 50 and to distributors..
looks like ill end up cutting body rubber…

exact size hasn’t been determined yet..
but prothane makes 2 body mounts
68085 2" diam, 1/2 bolt hole, .94" tall
68084 2" diam, 1/2 bolt hole, 1.32" tall

would have likes to make either of those my body mounts..

I have 48" of 2.5" 1/2 bolt hole body mount rubber... so I’m good... just would have rather had the smaller poly ones..

o gotcha.

Chop saw with a wood blade works great.  put the rubber in the freezer over night, makes it easier and less mess.   or my water cooled band saw works great too.
