sketched up the shop yesterday, put some ideas in my head to kick around.
Most of those ideas say that 4 post lift is in the wrong place. I think it may belong next to the paint booth on the other side, or might belong nowhere here. but I think that's a mid-term not a short term change.
Started looking for some pallet racking. this doesn't look like a bad start
https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/758912394638507/I'm also very curious how strong the top of the paint booth is and what could potentially be done to have storage over that. It's much less a waste of space if at least it could be storage above. Not that I'm hurting for storage in general - what I'm actually hurting for is heavy item storage. Steel rack, axles, engines, transfer cases. Pallet items. The way things are set up in here, I'm pretty limited on accessible wall space that I can put 4' deep racking on. The only part where that works is behind the office.
If I start parting things out, body parts above the paint booth is what comes to mind for proper weight-density. Body parts never seem to move, though.
I think I can think about a toolbox or two now, too, with some clue of how things arrange.
I do wish I had easy access to see roof construction on the second bathroom near the staircase. Considering removing it; also seriously considering it to be a pallet drop point for loading things to the upstairs storeroom. I think I'll have to pull sheeting off the top side to see what it's built of and figure a load rating. Hard deck ceiling underneath.
EDIT to add:
paint booth is about 14' wide. So 12' load beams and pallet racking uprights are no help there.
