110 gallons of oil for free with barrels from a lawn & plow guy in Macedon. I've got a full furnace tank and 2 full totes plus about 70gal now.
Fair number of empty barrels

I burned out the brushes on my pump moving things into totes today. Pumping sucks anyway. I know I had brushes but will probably have to just get new, I can't keep inventory in my head anymore.

Just went over to the new neighbors for an inaugural bonfire. Still get to put brush in their pile. They’re real nice. She’s an interior designer with a nice JL on 35s and he’s got a 730whp 6.0 ford that he’s returning closer to stock for reliability and drivability, and wants to see all my toys and shop. They’ve got a real friendly dumb golden retriever too.

With Gus back in service I decided to cut up the ash tree that came down early summer instead of finishing the trailer. Probably 1.5 face cord of good wood and half a face of punky crap or ant infestation.

I kinda love running a saw for a day. Put about three hours on corik’s splitter, thing is a high quality beast (25ton stand-up). Need to make another skid for good wood and for camp wood. I had a couple skids fail and I’m out of space, with Gus’s bed plumb full.

Have a dead pine to take down in the windrow that’ll be a bunch more camp wood. Really need to get to planting more pines, stat.

Have fucking squirrels or mice or something in the chimney box in the living room. Thought it was a bird in the chimney a couple nights ago. Confirmed screen is in place and no bird present. Noises continue so it’s in attic space. Less than great.

Need to see how a box like this is supposed to be assembled and see how close my install is to that, and whether it’s been made into a fully flammable habitat…

Had some floor water in the shop. Was worried it was from the heated floor loops (after I sprinkled baking soda on it to see if one of the batteries split), but it was from the house-to-shop water feed.

Replaced a couple hose clamps and seems to be all good. Thanks, Comp Cams!

The plastic line coming out of the concrete is clamped to a plastic nipple. That seems like a service/consumable part that won’t be fun to replace.

Right?

I *almost* called Sarah to go downstairs to stand by on the shutoff before I touched it but it turned out OK that I didn’t.

just about every piece of concrete here is shameful. Had to be homeowner special without advanced guidance or attention to detail. puddles in the house garage both in the middle and at the back wall get half an inch deep from wrong slope and wavy unevenness. shop floors aren't pitched toward the drains at all but at least they're flat and not wavy. Found the same uneven finish in the basement the one time it got wet, half inch puddles there too and zero slope towards the sump crocks.

I’ve been keeping an eye out for a medium arbor press. One a little larger than medium finally followed me home last night. Has a weird mounting plate modification on the arbor, and it’s newer Chineseium not old HD iron, but it should do for small pressing jobs.

Just need to fix my phase converter now so I can use my machine tools again…

Have had trouble with the waste oil burner losing prime since I refilled it. Annoying

The last oil I put in had a bunch of water in it. Got some up into the filers and then did a full clean out. Burns well now but just like the fight I have any time I run it to empty it’s a battle keeping it primed.

Been fighting for almost a week now, and I just got a low temp alert again. I thought I got it good yesterday but I guess not. I’ve reset it so often I forget if I did it when I moved the plow jeep in this morning or not. I think it was good when I left for work.

Really need to fix another heat source for backup. Both propane heaters have been offline long-term, with a full 500 gal tank.
