power came back about 0745, about 10.5 hours down. longest ever here. Nobody in sight at restoration, so I wonder if Mike next door has a backup generator that kept his outside light on?

Had some magic smoke come from my static phase converter while turning some pipe on the lathe, truing it up and  turning inside weld seam out of it so the OD of a bearing would clear to make a puller. I think I had to replace a couple caps in there already, I wonder if data plates are all true because it’s not overloaded based on what sizes I think everything is…

Belt is slipping too, and tension seems pretty ok. Should have something on deck if I tighten it much more, I think it’ll shred. 4” leather belt.

Put a fifth feed auger motor in the living room pellet stove this year. Have had two that I needed to weld gears together on. Three that broke gear teeth. (There is double counting, weld then break teeth a month later once)

Haven’t found another source for a 2-2.5rpm 120vac motor with the right pattern on the gear case. Pellethead seems to be the only source. It’s what the oem sells too.

Much lower quality parts than the initial motor I pulled out that stripped gears too, but probably after 5-15 years of service. Three years of service for me.

Very frustrating!

I found a better quality auger not long after that post. Been running quietly and correctly for the rest of the year.

Finally sent a project. About even money so with inflation and storage I lost a boatload but bad idea finally departed.

Decided to replace my probably almost 40 year old chest freezer last weekend. Picked up a whirlpool stand up freezer Saturday. Got thing rearranged and unpacked it Sunday evening.

Compressor never stopped running, inside never cooled, coils didn’t get warm. Low/no refrigerant most likely. Returned just now. The other one that was in stock sold since Saturday. Decided to order to store for pickup next week  instead of chasing to other stores and burning more time and fuel today or paying for delivery. Lame.

DOA, really sucks at least you had the old one to fall back to and it was not in a emergency replacement scenario
