I should contact him to see if he's interested in it.

I'm toying pulling the head to see what's wrong with it before anything else, but I think I'm going to wait until I have the other truck since that'll make it a paperweight.

The guy won't do a down payment/ pay ahead for delivery charge. Wants me to drive to St. Louis on good faith to deliver to his house and meet his wife w cash. Says he was recently screwed out of $2700.

Damnit. 800 miles is about 750 miles too far away to go without some cash on the table. Fail, dude.

having been on the buyer side of a paypal screwing, "winning" doesn't actually get you your money back in a private sale. That's a joke. If the seller doesn't care about losing that account and has no money in it, there's nothing further that happens.

escrow.com looks pretty reasonable. endorsed by all the major online car sellers, and has an easy byline for purchase vs shipping. Fees under $200 for this value transaction. Doesn't look bad to me.

I avoid getting screwed. Glad I learned on a $40 grill not a $2700 $thing.

Haven't heard back since I told him about escrow.com, but it's been a while between responses before.

It'll make me feel better about not potentially driving into a scamster or trap of some sort too.

Well I just put my foot down. Escrow at least half or give me a $500 deposit, otherwise get lost. I'm betting on get lost. Real shame, would be SO much easier and totally worth the money I'm leaving on the table selling it whole.
