1973 CJ6
« on: February 14, 2013, 08:05:29 AM »
well its now official since its in Mikes Trailer....
I hate putting the evil eye on these things.. tends to make deals fall apart...

In light of the accident at SVE and setbacks with my 5, I need something new to focus my attention and neurosis on..

1973 Cj6, 304 V8 factory mounted hardtop..

Bill (@ SVE) and I were questioning the history of this jeep.. seems there are some unanswered questions from the original CL pictures. (shown) Although not according to the VIN, this jeep might have been overseas or intended for a foreign market.. once I physically get it Sunday/Monday I should have a better idea what I got my hands on..
Either way.. a sweet 6 with an 8…

Plan is... well there is no plan..
get it running, stopping, steering and enjoy for now..
But it would be cool to build a new wheeler... ::)

I never wanted a red car.. always thought they were tacky and common...
I now have 4 very not common cars and they are all red.. :o

It's a neat jeep. And doesn't make my enclosed look small. I bet two fives on 33s would fit...

bill said he got it running off gas in the carb bowl. Rotten fuel lines tho. It got winched in.

Funny...

I've been making plans for the truck all weekend and I haven’t even physically seen it yet...
I know I still have the 5 to finish up, but hopefully by the time I get it back there won’t be much hard labor left..
just bolting the body together and some interior work..  Perfect for my current 45 min at a time life style..

I think the 6 has the potential to be the new wheeler.. haven’t built one in a while and I think I might take the years worth of trial and error and put an awesome package together..

that’s why I asked about the CJ frame strength..  I’m not looking to spend $2,500 just to have some steel rails hanging around..  don’t know how long of a build, how long to source parts etc..

I’m already starting with a 101 wheelbase and a V8 motor…   how wrong can I go?

do tell ...

budget is only an issue if I make it one...

not just looking to slap tons and tires..  I do want to restore it as well..

*It also needs to do 65-70 on the hwy..*

have been thinking spring over... YJ leaves
deff doing axles.. but not full width..

already sourced a NOS CJ6 Frame... coming in from OH
this will litterally be a frame up build.
