Lots of resealing. Skylight and shower dome. Removed the TV aerial, that’s the clean spot and penetrations here

Couldn’t get through the core of the roof to use the tv antenna hole for a gland so they went next to each other above the kitchen. The dirty one here was the am/fm aerial.

8awg pv wire. Thick uv-resistant insulation

I read something and then did some further reading that convinced me to try and get more air gap under the panels for performance and longevity. Cooler is better. This is greenhouse roofing corrugated lexan.

Butyl taped like so

This wasn’t leaking. The butyl below was still sealing the nose cap to the roof. Dicor all cleaned out and redone before panels partly covered it.

Front edges all got sealed with roof repair tape. Same stuff patching the TV antenna holes on the right.

If I took the roof rack off, I could squeeze on 2 more panels.

Final install as it sits right now.

Not sure on wheeling yet. But getting this much “done” sure feels good.

Still want to extend the jacks for fender clearance and clean off the bottom (bumper, sewer pipe, gen exhaust) for gooseneck use so I don’t have to have it up on 6x6s.

Starting to look at a Minnesota sightseeing + dad’s ashes trip in September?
Should check the fall Rolling W schedule and see how that looks too.

Ran the ac all night at 73ish. Woke up to 21% battery.

Not much headroom but very serviceable. And outside of aircon use, that’s more power than I’ll ever need.

Cool

Impressive. It doesn’t get much warmer and humid than last night.

Looked at the 12v-12v charger today. Must have had a loose plug that it wasn’t working at all but the wiring to the back of the truck is CRAP. It’s only 12.x nominal with the truck running and the cigarette lighter showing 14.1. It is down to 9.x with a 1 amp load.

Didn’t check if the drop was hot or neutral, but it’s no wonder charging from the truck isn’t worth much on anything and didn’twork at all through an actual charger.

So in addition to 4awg leads I should probably check out the trailer wiring again too. I last did plugs probably 10 years ago and never re ran anything from the front of the truck.

Starlink ordered. Plans to go east for the week following humble pie.

New truck will charge at least 11.5 amps and hold over 13 volts

I am thinking about getting a starlink for our new horse trailer.

If you have the power budget to support it, the old full-size hardware is only $175 new now.

That’s what I did, I didn’t get the Mini

Hopefully it plays nice with the inverter, not sure how much draw would change between the inverter and doing a 12-48v step up dc power supply. Iirc that’s what it needs.

Jokinen’s have one and it’s pretty great. I think Harry has still only been threatening but I don’t remember for sure.

There are a bunch of options like this all over Amazon and eBay. They look like cheap junk but I'm sure it would be fine? We're still only threatening but probably will at some point. I think they're rated to consume 50-100w, readout on Andy's app said about 60w so pretty low energy consumption. I'm guessing consumption would be less with this adapter rather than inverter to go DC to AC back to DC but I doubt it's a big difference either way.

I think everything is all set on this now.

Charging at 50 amps from the truck via 4 awg and Anderson connectors.
Batteries have a disconnect now.
Generator exhaust is turned to clear the bed and reinstalled in case it’s needed.
Starlink seems to work perfectly through the skylight, so it’s mounted in there.
Toolbox that came with the truck isn’t a perfect fit but it’s on and usable on the passenger side.
Good test on diesel heater.

Monitoring power today with starlink running, drawing about 10 amps. Will plug in and get the fridge running tonight.

Solar held up Starlink. I’m facing north and in relatively heavy shading but that’s pretty hefty draw all things considered.

55% at 9pm when I turned it on.
41% this morning 8am
53% right now.
1.9kwh today from solar.

Zero systems issues so far. Went through 100% of water during humble pie with three showers, went out as we were packing: perfect.

0.9gal of diesel for heat. Furnace controller is insane with awful chingrish instructions.

Must be some damn good fishing to ground your boat at the dock daily

Haven’t seen high tide yet. Will be 15-20’ of water here. The shore is hundreds of yards out from this harbor. Tide was up several feet from minimum and the river was still flowing out.

Hows the new truck on this trip for ya?  Assuming you're using it.
