All my rides have car audio of some type. The previous Coupe build being the exception because of space limitations, and that always bothered me.
So I wanted to have some tunes in this car. I did some research on open air options and the UTV style sound bars kept coming up. UTV guys love them. So i figured I would give one a shot. I narrowed it down to two of the largest ones on the market and went with the PowerBass XL1250.
On paper it sounded great. *pun* Bluetooth to the phone as the source unit, simple power and ground connections, water proof, self contained package.
In real life it sounded like a 1980's boom box that was cranked up past the distortion levels on purpose.
Now granted, I am a car audio snob of the 90's era. But damn, what a piece of $800 crap.
So I returned it and started looking into the new car audio offerings.
In my competition years I was rocking a pair of Phoenix Gold MS2125 and aMQ430.
In the past you had no idea what an amp could really output. But today YouTube has people with Amp Dyno's that test the amps for true output.
