Temporally dropped the body back on the chassis, mostly to get it out of my way.  Collecting the next phase of parts & hardware.

That time of the year to get back into the shop.  I decided I wanted to give this car a little more oomph.  Going for a 500hp build.
Using this as a guide for the LQ9 I plan to put in the Chevelle.

This is a LQ4 (6.0) with unknown miles.  I also didn't get to hear this one run before I pulled it, only got to hear it pop and stumble on starting fluid.    So I figured this would be a candidate for a rebuild.  And if I was going to rebuild it might as well throw some HP at it.  8)

I have the engine completely apart and everything looks fine. All bearings look good.  Typical carbon and gunk.
I discovered that the best cleaner for carbon is easy off oven cleaner.  Then clean that with water with a little degreaser in it and then brake cleaner and air gun off. Finally coat everything with WD40 to not let it flash rust.

As usual, I got side tracked with the cleaning of the engine parts and decided to build a hot tank for the block. I had a 55 gal food grade barrel and a burner for oil fryer.  I added some copper tube with holes in it for air agitation.

Hot tank upgrades because I cant stop myself..   220V  5500watt heating element,  40a SSR,  Watlow 96 PID controller, Type K TC
Wired so I can plug into my welder extension cable.  Used the propane to help bring it up to temp. Then shut off the flame and let the controller take over at 130degs. Turned on the air and let it cook for 2 hours. Worked awesome.

Block rinsed off, dried and painted.    Next drove out the old cam bearings.  They look pretty hammered.

Test fit of the cam.  Used a good assembly lube.  I just wanted to "feel" the fitment.  All good.   I will pull this back out before next steps.
