« on: June 08, 2020, 10:50:30 PM »
open source PCM tuning / VATs delete now possible.

i had heard about this a few months ago from my tuner, and sounds like Gif has gotten it to work so i bit and spent the 60$ on the non china bluetooth OBD reader.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00H9S71LW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

made a bench setup to plug in and com with P01 PCMs 99-07 GM

copied to my android phone a couple PCMs and now on to the next part- email to PC and mod them.  then load back.  (havent learned that part yet working on it)

tuner pro free download
http://www.tunerpro.net/downloadApp.htm

you also need to find the correct XDF file for the PCM you want to read the bin file of for editing
best i found is here, waiting on user activation for DL
http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-Injection/showthread.php?7676-Free-LS1-Tuning-Software-(all-you-need-is-TunerPro)

use tuner pro with correct XDF and lsdroid read bin file, modify, save bin, flash to PCM.
should be easy soon.

ya i should be all set.  i have read a few of my PCMs seems straight forward to do the simple things like VATs and emissions.

the link you posted has a few of the xdf files needed but ill have to get a few more.  looks like i just got an email to that other site after sending a messaged to admin for account approval, so i should be able to DL their files now.

was bored at work today had some time to play, ill flash my 4.8 up and test it out when the temps drop tonight.   dont feel like lugging a car battery into house haha

successfully removed Vats from a 2004 PCM for the 54 chevy.

my efforts and cost paid for it self right there the first time.

wont read my buggy PCM through the on car OBD port.  was going to save the file and look what else someone who knows what they are doing does to other things.  ill pull the PCM later and move it to my bench setup.  not sure why it doesnt work on car as it worked for John to tune with HP tuners.

going to try PCM hammer tonight

got a kick out of this:

Quote
Change VIN - To use this feature, click the button and enter your vehicle's VIN, then click OK. Note that the change will not take effect until after you turn off the ignition. The PCM will still run on battery power for a few seconds while it stores the new VIN permanently. If you disconnect all power, the PCM will still have the original VIN the next time you turn it on.

You may find this feature useful if you've purchased a used PCM from a junkyard or online retailer, for example after bricking your PCM with software written by amateurs and downloaded from the internet. (Although, honestly, zero PCMs have been harmed during the development of this app. So far.)
