Tow Rig Tires Tech
« on: January 31, 2017, 05:34:44 PM »
I need new tires. Bad.

I had 285/75R16 Load D BFG A/T. tend to cups, wore fast, one broke a belt and bulged right before I took them off.

I'm currently running the 295/70R17 Load E Hankook Dynapro ATM. They cups if I slacked on tire rotation. I think I'm pushing 45-50k miles on them now. All around good tires.

I'm wanting to get another set of Hankooks as I'm very happy with them but I figured I'll ask and see what else I should consider

www.boarwheel.com

ask jared to get you a set of take offs or find them on CL

will last 100K on that truck and total will be cheaper than 4 e rated truck tires that wont last 20K of towing.

My truck is more of multipurpose use so they're kinda impractical to me as far as I can think of. I'll like those 19.5" if my truck is hooked to a trailer 24/7 tho.

Already a rough riding truck, daily driver, traveling, some off road, snow and ice driving and towing.

Skinny tires will suck badly for me, rutting the yard or get stuck fast. I haven't look hard for what's available for All-Terrain type tread 19.5" tires with around 33 tall by 12.5 width favor.

And to find wheels that I like will be challenging lol

wide 19.5s are more like a 36-37" tire. all sizes are 70 aspect ratio.

Treadwright?

While not perfection, they do last reasonably long and balance well. And are pretty cheap.

I've owned 6 sets, I think?! Still running on the Sierra, although time for a new set.

I got these from Jared over Christmas time, still fighting to get them balanced and trued. Ride is rougher. But, I really wanted something 33"+ tall for highway rpm reduction and there is no reasonable option in an E range 17 that's that height. Hope they last long enough to be worth it. These are 245s. I think Vision makes a nice alum SRW 19.5 rim that's around $200.

If you actually got 45k out of a set of Hankooks, I'd feel hard pressed not to do that again.

id agree with harry.  i was getting 11-12K miles out of BFG AT E's on my 2001 24valve towing.  flat even wear on the rears with 3 rotations.  burned up 2 new sets after the set that came on the truck before i went 19.5's

As long as there's a tire conversation going on.....

I know a few of you have tire hook ups..  Do any of you ever come across low profile 22.5?

Regardless of new of used, I'll probably be looking for a set of 4 for drives on my motorhome.

Just curious, any information is appreciated.

Thanks.

I'll need to pull out my receipts to find what odometer reading when mounted new.

They sounds like exactly what you was looking for? Hankook Dynapro ATM 295/70R17 are 33.3" tall, pretty much why I went with them haha

https://tiresize.com/tires/Hankook/Dynapro-ATM-295-70R17.htm

although 285/70R17 are cheaper and 32.8" tall and much more common size than 295s

I can't fit anything bigger than ~33" diameter spare tire under the bed so 33" diameter tires is a good size for me all around.

I think you need a spacer for anything wider than 285 with a dually, not something I was willing to do

oh. that's right. I agree, spacers on dually sounds bad idea.
