87 XJ
« on: March 13, 2013, 01:35:34 PM »
1987 Jeep Cherokee Chief

I purchased this jeep with the intention of being able to takes my wife or friends wheeling fir the first time.
Being and automatic and fairly capable it’s a great wheeling rig..  With 4:56 gears it’s a great daily driver as well..
Life events are basically not going to allow my grand vision of a family outing of this nature for quite some time.

Gauging interest for this beast…

Jeep is in excellent shape for the year.  Jeep is from CT so NO SALT rot. there is obviously some surface rust considering it’s a 26 yr old truck.
*4.0L fuel Injected motor, AW4 Automatic transmission.
*17X,K Miles.. runs like a top.. recent sensor, starter and tune up.
*converted A/C to R134 refrigerant a few years back the right way and works excellent.
*4.5 inch RE lift with adj. upper and lower control arms
*RE adjustable track bar
*full leafs springs in rear
*front and rear Tom woods drive shafts
*Advance Adapters short shaft in 231T-case
*front skid plate, tcase and tank
*HP D30 with 456 gears open diff
*RARE XJ D44 rear with 456 gears and lockrite locker
*factory XJ swing out tire carrier
*BRAND NEW Superwinch Talon 9.5 synthetic line winch
*BRAND NEW custom winch bumper
*Rectangular tube Rocker/Sliders
*85% 33 x 10.5 BFG Mts
*does not leak a drop of oil

I never wanted a red car.. always thought they were tacky and common...
I now have 4 very not common cars and they are all red.. :o

yuppers....

adult x's 2 now...

I bought this jeep with the full and honest intention of taking my wife wheeling 1 more time before she completely writes it off and letting her drive..
Jeep is auto, AC, great heat.. nice stereo and capable….
Somewhere in-between when Mike picked it up and I ordered the bumper, winch, stereo etc we found out…
Needless to say this summer is shot for her taking up anything new.

The designer already showed up @ the house last week along with the carpet guy and seamstress…
I don’t need to ditch it…. But also don’t need to have it right now..

nice truck.  only thing she needs is some shocks to take the bobble head driving out in the rear

shifts and runs good.  power wise id say it pulls like a 173K truck, not as much go as my 99 4.0 but still good.

clean inside and out. love the interior and tire swing.

Corrados are fun, but a Dub doesn't seem "you" at all and I don't think you'd have any easier of a time selling it than a built XJ
