Possible first ever Aussie locker issue
« on: July 19, 2012, 01:53:12 PM »
I have an issue with my Aussie locker in the d30. When making 3 point turns, parallel parking, etc it feels like the locker is binding up and then makes a loud cracking noise. Was wondering if anyone experienced anything like this before I go pulling apart the front end.

probably a worn cross pin, out of spec on the small side or one or more of your pins are broken

not the lockers fault.  most of the problems i get from these complaints are worn parts around the lockers.

the locker is stronger than the OE parts..
I never wanted a red car.. always thought they were tacky and common...
I now have 4 very not common cars and they are all red.. :o

Worn cross pin and one broken pin. New pins and springs on the way from bill and got a cross pin on Quadratec. Should be back in action as soon as I get back from the beach.

Also the aussie cam gears and spacers were in great condition after 3 years of daily driving, weekend warrior crawling and racing, and countless wreck wheeling. 30k+ miles of on and off road flogging!

ya, every one i have ever take out, always looks new.  the Pins are not intended to or designed to take load.  They take load when clearances go to hell and OE parts wear out.

Good thing about this is the locker is forced to jam, so you have 100% traction, when you blow spider gears 0% traction.....
