shop air compressor re pump

Bluepoint 60 gal compresssor
says 7hp peak 135psi on side of it, no SCFM numbers stated. inline 2 cyl.  no HP stated on motor tag. motor looks 2/3s the size of my 5hp phase converter motor?

i traded a JK lift install for this when it was like new, about 12 years ago (valued at $700 trade)

i have tried to change the oil and drain water before every winter.  got away from me this and last year, ran out of oil seized.

broke free, ran for 3 weeks, seized again and blew flywheel off taper.  i reinstalled, got free, got running, but noted 1/2 fill speed running longer, and found only one cyl getting hot (assumed broken rod)

went to HF today after research, they have a 5hp 2 stage i was looking at.  McGraw, cast iron, pretty good reviews.

Instore price was 260, and it looks huge.  look on the open box rack and there is the 3.7hp version 2 cyl single stage for 86$

looked like it sat on its side and oil soaked the box, otherwise new and unopened.  inspected and grabbed it.

i had ordered a new 5" v belt pulley for motor and swapped that on (old was cerp belt) to correct the RPM of the 3450 motor.

Made a motor adapter plate to tank plate for new compressor pattern, scrounged a belt from belt pile, had to run to lowes for some 1/2" copper and new compression rings

old comp on 1 piston (pulled head and confirmed broke) was recovery time kick on to kick off 2min10sec
new compresor  was 4min 59sec from 0psi to kick off pressure and 1 min 2sec for  recovery time kick on to kick off!

win!
