Used econo car
« on: June 05, 2014, 08:26:23 AM »
A co-worker needs a reliable and inexpensive vehicle for a daughter to use for commutes from Roch to Boston. I was thinking an VW Golf (gas not diesel) from the early 2000. Any other suggestions? Even better, anyone have anything they are looking to sell under $3K?

Honda Civic.  Any year. They are great cars.

I did a quick search on Rochester CL and there are tons of civics between 2700-3200 that look presentable.

Agreed.  Pretty much anything Honda or Toyota.  I was going to suggest a Corolla because Honda stuff is typically $$ inflated.

No idea why honda or toyota wasn't on the list. If anyone has anything decent let me know.

I wouldn't put a non-enthusiast in a 15 year old Dub.

I'll third the civic if gas is the fuel of choice. It'll get better em pee gees than a two-point-slow too.

I've had my 02 Focus for 4 years/70k, has been great to me. 29-34mpg, 2dr 5spd. Nothing but normal maintenance. I just get in and drive it.

Won't disagree with Honda/Yota though, probably the direction I'd head in if I was shopping for something now.
