new surge tank level sensor and ECM reset seems to have cured all problems, probably a dozen cold starts and 6 usage trips with miles since.

no start again.

RandR coolant sensor
over fill coolant
pull ecm clean power fuses
clean all battery connections
check both fire wall ground posts (only online suspect noted)- mine are factory seam sealed outside, factory clean and tight inside
no crank
note- intermittent power to gage cluster while cranking- never noticed this before.

go back to shop 2 hours later to drop off something, crank for hell of it, cranks first start.

Must be contagious.
Drove the f350 to Binghamton and back saturday. Stopped a few times on the way back. Parked in my driveway overnight. No crank next morning and still as of last night.
Check engine light came on right before we left for Binghamton.
Starter connections look real ugly but too cold to monkey w as of sunday.

First time she has ever left me stranded.
Might be time to get traded in.

wonder if the ECM is saying "no thanks" or if it's something on the lift or injection pump that it's not delivering fuel?

just thinking out loud....

the two google searches mostly say its a clean power issue to the ECM.  if there was a fuel pressure issue or injection issue it would throw a code and light.    I did check fuel pressure after crank, tons spraying out of lift side shrader though.

when you key on the gages full swing and all lights go on and off.  when you crank, its almost like it tries to do the gage test multiple times, leading me to believe there is loss of power or ground to the dash/ECM

biggest forum solution is take both ground studs apart and clean, check chassis to cab ground, eliminate 2 sets of weather pack connections in the battery box, check battery connections.

redoing gauge test definitely sounds like intermittent or dirty power to ECM.

Could it be something at they key, losing power on ign while in crank position? wild hare idea, other connections much more likely

That explains the white truck pulling the black enclosed north on 15 as I was heading south to M4.
