Weather tested!!!!
had some SIGNIFICANT rain and hail this past weekend...
have to report I am very pleased with the tops performance and fit..
not a lot of wind noise @75 mph (above a healthy V8) and fogging was really minimal.
doors are hard to see side mirrors out of and I don't have a rearview because of the height of my spare tire.
Kids loved it... they were like caged beasts back there..

There was some pooling on the front foot wells.. I cant really determine if its from the "A" pillar door jam or the windshield seal I had to sand down.. either way, not much of a concern for anything shy of torrential downpours.  I will be adding a floor drain or 2 since the fully welded and lined tub could easily be a rowboat..

I never wanted a red car.. always thought they were tacky and common...
I now have 4 very not common cars and they are all red.. :o

on a more sobering note...
took me 6 months to finally get in there and install a resistor...
in theory this is why I was chewing up ICM's...  thought that ghost was gone until this weekend..
when I went to pull truck in garage I had a no start... ICM again..
Going to spend some time with a voltmeter and wire diagram tonight... cant possibly see what's wrong..

resistor wasn't dropping voltage enough
took one from a 64 CJ5 and it seems to be doing the trick..
Voltage at coil ~ 9.5v..
could prob play with the timing a bit.. but running well..

Need USB outlets

also need to address lack of underbody protection if for no other reason than its a Jeep and it should have a skid plate.

little more update...

had another box failure..
decided to play around with placement in the engine compartment since heat seems to be this things worse enemy...

Driver side box was mounted on firewall.
its a bit busy over there with the coolant and washer bottle, charcoal canister, etc...
Tub is aluminum so there should be a adequate "heat sink" effect, unless airflow is restricted and the V8 manifold is shedding too much. (plus exhaust runs on that side of the vehicle)

I mounted another box on the inner passenger side fender.
Much less equipment on that side of the truck.

first test yesterday on 95 deg heat was promising..
Un connected (not running) box on drive side firewall was 123* deg
box on passenger side fender that is currently powering the vehicle was 106* deg.

that's a significant difference especially since there was no load on the hotter box..
Time will tell

this one even blows my mind..
ordered a new one from Novak.. will end up fixing this one as a spare..
everything I found online relates to top cover issues, not canes snapping...

was simple enough to diagnose, fix and limp out of the way.. Leatherman to the rescue!

appreciate it.. Put the FC to use and strapped that thing home..

even under tow I got Jeep waves and few thumbs up...
Novak didn't ship last night, but should have a new cane tomorrow AM..

I really could have driven it home in 3rd gear, but a friend of mine wanted an "experience"

T18 shifter.  its a top load that sticks in and twist snaps to the transmission.  the part broken with the ball on the end is what moves the forks in the trans.  that needs to be connected to the stick to shift gears :)

Quick little addition over the weekend..
Need some more storage that isnt in the center console..
Thinking about a tuffy trunk as well, but wanted a slide out drawer for under the driver seat..
wish it was a little bit deeper and wider, but there is still room for a tool bag tucked next to it..

Need to work on getting these all keyed alike
