Mj motor swap
« on: January 04, 2012, 11:46:17 AM »
Arie brought over a flip project.  pull a good motor from a title-less 88 TBI MJ and swap to a 91 Port injected truck MJ and get it running.  Truck one was delivered last week and the good motor pulled.  Truck two was delivered monday, motor pulled, parts swapped, installed, and test drove the truck that night.   ;D

so much easier to fit a 4cyl into a XJ/MJ than a I6...
I never wanted a red car.. always thought they were tacky and common...
I now have 4 very not common cars and they are all red.. :o

she drive good?  only thing i noticed was a little vib like at start up that seemed kinda weird, but it drove great for me.

from what i can read, you dont really time those motors they are either in the spec or not, no engine light i think we are good.

ran great..
had it up to 55 on W.hen rd.

had a vibration.. but it was the loose Driver side mirror..

started my 86 today..
different story.. sitting for over 2 years its running kinds shitty..
has great power on rev, but stumbles when you let off the gas..
either clogged or shitty fuel or some kind of manifold vac leak..
need to get that one registered so I can run through a tank of gas..
rear lift shackles are in thanks to Erik.. front spacers will be this week...

i took it to 70 on my drive, i dont mess around when its shit i work on and hand off.

so odd to have stock brakes with stock tire size and feel massive stopping power compared to the rest of my piles lol

good to hear your happy.  No problem if the white one doesnt move for a while i can put it in my fleet pile out back....
