I guess today is when I regret not doing soft lines

Left front is hanging up and smoking. Barely enough to feel

Fuck

I caught that in canandaigua picking up groceries. Lines in stock and went home to change. I couldn’t blow though the left line after I changed it. I changed the right as well. Probably should do the rears sooner than later. I’ll cut those open and see if the rubber is swollen and failing.

Almost as far as the PA line now. Stopped for fuel  at that big new Speedway (3.24 with Mudflap), no issues.

Didn’t ruin pads or warp the rotor. Was just the lightest application and worst smelling smoke. Still hanging around the truck. Yuck.

Overnight downpour washed the smoke off the truck. No more stink.

Glad I didn’t drive through that on the way north from Line Mountain. The worst of it stayed just to the north/east and we didn’t get any bad wind. Radar looked intense.

100% uneventful trip back and forth to Harrisonville with Foxy on the deck.

Further than I like to go without a spare tire even though I’ve yet to need one since going to 19.5s. I’d like to remedy that along with swapping the presumable bad front abs sensor causing abs light and no cruise. Nice short wish list for the moment.

Considering looking at headlight options too. They seemed to be a bit lacking this trip. It’s probably my aging eyes more than anything.

Overhead was claiming 13.5-14 (hand calc 13.25mpg) eastbound and 12.5-13 westbound.

nice!  check your wheelbearings also.  mine causing heat is what melted my abs sensors about 400miles prior to kaboom

11.6 for me on 90 both ways.  missed exit talking, ended up taking highway around which was more tolls, 4minutes longer, probably 30 miles? more.

Looks like there was some wheel bearing work in 2017 so that’s been a minute.

Bad brake calipers smoking front brakes very likely cause. Insulation on the right one didn’t look perfect. Still worth feeling carefully for any bearing issues. I admit I haven’t as many times as I’ve touched front tires recently.

Had a weird occurrence leaving Rausch Creek just now. Climbing the first big hill on the interstate, for about a half a second everything electrical in the truck went haywire. Lost engine power. It did continue to run, and I did not need to restart it, not sure if that has to do with not mashing the clutch? Tachometer was definitely fluctuating 0 to roughly current RPM. Most gauges were either flashing or fluctuating, I don’t remember exactly. Water in fuel light was blinking along with several others. The Edge CTS That’s plugged into the OBD port turned off and stayed off.

All this lasted for about a half a second or a second. I had to unplug and re-plug the CTS, all gauges and monitoring looks fine. No check engine light.

I’ll have to translate that later.

No reoccurance, ran fine all the way home.

Under 10mpg on the overhead with the new setup. Feels very heavy. Didn’t scale it. Didn’t fuel to see real economy yet. Bet it’s 9ish.

edited to be a bit less wrong.

I think what I saw looks exactly as though I lost ignition power. I bet if I keyed off-on-off-on-off-on I'd replicate the symptoms exactly. Hope I don't have a chewed or corroded wire somewhere. Plenty of rough roads on the way home that should have jarred it. Plenty of high power hill climbing load just like first occurrence too. Very strange.

sounds like battery connections should be looked at / re prepped

brand new cables at the batteries within the last year or two, but good point. Check those as well as ground points on chassis/body/block - I don't think I did anything with body ground connections, only the big cables (that was in chasing my charging regulation issue, where I'd get intermittent high/low charging fluctuation that I could see in my cluster lights and headlights at about 2-4Hz. That issue has stayed fixed)
