Version 1.  Lettuce and basil.  We’ll see how it goes.

Lettuce and basil right now. I'll put pepper plant in there soon, I have some sprouting now.

I have a new grow lights to hang up that should be here today.  So far I've built it with on-hand materials other than some PVC fittings and clay balls.

I'll expand if it works well. The room will be getting remodeled this summer.  I have larger tanks to replace both of those tanks.

Humidity stays around 45-50%RH all year round.  My house is real dry in the winter.  I have a humidifier on the furnace (which I'm pretty sure is useless) and a big ass one on the second floor.  Both tanks will loose a gallon a day in total in the winter.  Will likely be more with this setup.  I have an auto top-off system.

Everything was looking pretty bad after first week but then kicked back off and is growing quickly.  Needed to acclimate I guess.  I also significantly reduced the flow through the grow bed which may have had something to do with it.  Already harvested a few salads.  Threw the leak in for the hell of it and it grew 6” in a few days.  Nitrate is down in the aquarium.

I didn't put 2 & 2 together to realize these were growing in fish water. Cool!

Big tank has a painted turtle, a crayfish and a few dozen neon tetras (tiny fish.)  The smaller tank has a couple dozen celestial pearl danios (really tiny fish) and hundreds of red cherry shrimp.
