Weak crank when I went to park joe just now. Jumped. Now won’t crank. Interior relay clicks.

Need test light and some tools to diag. Could be starter or ignition switch or a few other things. Fuckin cars man

Rear calipers from Beetle donor swapped on. Rear brakes work again. Park brake works again which is a nice improvement. Does deserve one new ebrake cable.

Rear brakes do so little, I notice zero difference from two seized to two working rear calipers in a test panic stop. Maybe once the pads bed in a bit. 99% used pads on dressed 99% rotors that sat and rusted for a year on the beetle. So maybe in a couple hundred miles it’ll be a little different

Starter swapped from the golf last night. Bad bushing and it was disengaging while cranking. Both are carquest remans, look similar age. I’m pretty sure I replaced both. Hopefully have warranty on file.

bought them in nov '18 and feb '20. I'm pretty sure the one that went bad is the newer of the 2. several reviews state they don't last in TDIs

Axle swapped. Doesn’t sound like pending unscheduled disassembly anymore.

Threw snows on the front and put some slime in the one that leaks down. Could really use another pair of 225/45r17 snows or some tiny all terrains for the 15s.

hard starts are getting harder and smokier. pump or injector is leaking down, addressing this has become a 'must'

only have had two hard starts since I posted that. usually after sitting for days.

it's had a lot of pump diesel through it since then. maybe cleaned some things out?

Warm weather == hard starts

Just unplugged the temp sensor and it started great. I think it is working correctly since the glow time is as expected, so timing must be a hair off? Hopefully can adjust some software parameters to improve assuming it is reading sane. Sensor has 4 pins. One resistor for dash and one for ecu so dash reading right is no test at all

Has been running great with temp sender unplugged.  Better MPG too.

Spotted bubbles in clear fuel line while idling. Getting new fuel filter housing and maybe some lines.

Serp tensioner getting changed right now, it wasn’t tensioning at all anymore.

Had a rear flat leaving for work the other day. Rear bearings feel great so this may be a catastrophic issue? Old tires swapped on, haven’t dug deeper. No rear axle incidents in my ownership. I don’t remember how long these rear tires have been on but I swapped rear calipers like a year ago and cords were not showing then.

Wow that's a lot of wear.  Got your dollars worth out of them.

Not exactly an ideal wear pattern, especially for a solid rear axle
