whats the right way
« on: May 30, 2012, 09:10:56 AM »
I have always just tapped into the positive battery terminal for constant power..
is there a right way to do this?  like a side block or???
just seems I have an awful lot of wires coming off the top post of my battery..
I never wanted a red car.. always thought they were tacky and common...
I now have 4 very not common cars and they are all red.. :o

Could install a sub-panel/junction.  Not sure of the tech name...

yeah.. I think I’m going to have to do a 6 circuit fuse panel...

I had the painless one at one point.. it was just a PITA remembering what was ignition hot, constant hot, and running the enormous length of wire all over the place..
I think BUSS makes a quick connect constant hot panel..

off the top of my head I only need around 6..

i think you need to do some rock auto parts cross matching quality time and camp out at J&J to get some parts to swap

I'm soooo glad it mostly works and I haven't been around when there have been issues.

571 has had 3 electrical issues to date:

failed tail light pigtail that shorted out ignition fuse (Tail lights moved, fixed)

Taurus fan on HI pops a 30 amp fuse  (40 amp MAXI fix)

Alternator ring terminal Fail (race prep item,  Both fan ground terminals also replaced)

I'll go ahead and hate, that's okay. Don't confuse reliability for serviceability.
