Rear end was loose as shit. Tons of trouble steering and staying on the line. Cost me a tire.

Doubtless due to raped bushings.

Motor works GOOD north of 3500 or 4000. It’s hot garbage under load from 2000 or 2500 for about 1000 rpm. Probably similar to smike, but without trans issues.

I melted a fan fuse in my new relay box. Like got Smokey hot and had to stop and fix due to fire concern. Unsure if bad crimp, bad fuse, undersized connectors in the box, or due to the general method used to make a 50a fuse go where it didn’t really belong.

Bad driveline vibe.

Ran cool a n motor and trans both but ambient temps were 40ish. Trans rebuild is solid. I don’t like the need to manually downshift. But I do like compression braking in all gears. I have one of each feature in each of two transmissions.

Steering effort and feedback both still a bit higher than I’d like especially with cold wet dirty hands.

Good shakedown. Disappointingly close to a really good race, result was probably as earned for level of completion and preparation. Effort was obviously high, results at departure I’d give a C- or D. Race day results a C+ or B- due to lack of tools and spares on car. Made electrical magic happen to run fan again with what was under the hood though!

Thanks to all who helped!

I was gonna plug that speedo hole in my trans last night. I might have to pull the floor to do it. I taped it up before I put the floor in and getting at it around/ through the new bigger exhaust is gonna suck.

why to I do this to me? haha

Speedo hole plugged. That was super annoying.

Washed.

Few items needing attention noted before the coal bucket.
Just going to washer those wallowed rear holes and change whooped bushings in existing rear links. Not sure if bumps will get rebuilt or not, that would be good. Have a few missing small fasteners.

Zero motivation to work on this thing.

I pushed to run aoaa to chase series points. Gotta focus on that to get my ass in gear.

Need a little lathe time tomorrow if I can. Drive shaft slip replacement and opening up some weld washers to 9/16.

90% certain the driveshaft parts are in Joe.

Need to grab a fresh 9/16 drill bit, mine only one is both bent and lost. Hoping I can rip through (4) 1/2” weld washers quick to open em to 9/16” and just weld the nuts for quick fix on the other side. This is the last time 9/16 bolts will be going back in those brackets.

2 vids of issues:

Not lookin good at all. Links were supposed to be back in by now, but instead I snapped all 3/4 unibits I could find trying to open up the holes to plop my repair washers in to fix the wallowed holes. Can’t use the little ones in my real drill. Need a clutched drill.

Bought the wrong size spline shaft for my drive shaft too, just for good measure. Pun not intended. As I type and think about it, I bet I bought that for the front shaft not the rear. Before I knew the Dakota shaft would fit. So I should rebuild that someday.

No lathe accidents.

So I’ll see if fleetpride has a 2-40-1711 in stock. If they don’t I’m done. If they do maybe I try to fall asleep piloting Joe down Saturday morning after working all night in the hopes of chasing series points and delivering Karl’s tires.

im confused about the 3/4 holes being drilled- going to 3/4 bolts or?  doesnt a grade8 1/2" washer fit tight on a 9/16" bolt?

bummer about drive shaft parts.... do they have a yoke that matches what you bought for a second in stock option?

there are some 1350 stuff i think on the 49 chassis that looked pretty good shape, let me know if i can help with anything later tonight after i finish up a rear gear and rear elocker install on a jk

It’s a tube size issue not a spline problem

Over drilling holes for fixit washers. I have repaired one hole back there with a 1/2” washer and it didn’t last well. Have the fixit washers. Probably should have just doubled up 1/2” washers and finished it instead of getting frustrated breaking tools.
