I did rear brakes and wheel cylinders on this hog tonight so she is good to go and wont leak any more brake fluid. Alex helped bleed, thanks!
on the short list, front CV is shot (one on loan from chip should show up) and a front ujoint should get swapped. otherwise she is good to go.
-
Fun times!
See if you remember how to wheel non-buggy status.
-
The end is near :P
-
It will only kick out a few times. Its fine.
-
i didnt see a fuel pump in my parts box from arie so i guess the kicking out will not be attempted to get change.
coil or fuel pump is all thats left in the fuel system to change.
-
o, also the rear ubolts are getting changed. they were loose on the driverside but seized and snapped when tried to tighten. have a set i have been saving that were made wrong for another project. should work good.

OHH SHIT.. forgot the XJ FP.. just grabbed the dodge..
i will get that to the store for you today!!
-
all brakes and ujoints done and she held up pretty well!
still have to do fuel pump and i think trans has frozen water in it, it is really cranky untill it warms up a bit.
-
Was it weird wheeling the jeep after being able to do whatever you want in the buggy?
-
it was really weird in a 5 speed, open diffs, 35's, and a dana30.
it was fun, but trying to not hit trees is sometimes annoying!
heat and Pandora was nice. seats in the buggy are way better.
-
I would think HEAT and windows were the nicest part :)

welcome back to real wheeling.. not that point and shoot stuff your use to..
-
when we are buggy wheeling, rarely is it point and shoot any more....
when we are dragging tj's ya, most of it is point and shoot :)
-
What about cute zj's!? Then it is cruise control!
-
aww man, the 8.25" in this guy blew her wad tonight.
you would be amazed how far an XJ can drive in 4 low with the rear shaft vacated AND the rear diff is locked up.
-
How far is that? and how'd the tahrs like it?
-
didnt look didnt care. im sure you can see the marks from the pizza corner light to where its parked at the shop.
really scary that for like only the last 10 miles i herd a little whine in the rear end and then all the sudden coming home from sears down the W hen hill the rear end was pissed under coast load. almost made it to the shop but it went bang when i had to slow down for a light. blew the slip yoke apart and pinion locked up. i dragged it off to the side of the road before even getting out to see the rear shaft hanging. pulled it, and drove it home in 4low with the rear locked squealing, dragging, and doing its locked up thing.
-
just my luck after i said i wouldnt put a dime into stock axles, and i just did all the brakes/cylindars in the rear. FML
needs tons and a set of KRTs
-
What a machine!
-
screw it this hog is getting 8 lugs
-
isn't there a D35 out back? Even set up for leafs?
-
ill pull it apart and check it out but after snaping ujoints and now blowing the rear end i am just not cut out for stock shit on jeeps
-
you need a DD 4cyl fuel sipper MJ while you build this
-
na, the wonder his heritage now.
think its done with stock axles and 35's though....
the shovel might get the scrapper earlier than planned.
-
I have a sweet set of H2 wheels here you can use. ;D
-
Yeah right you are way too attached to the shovel
-
it is a sweet hog, but there is like no snow out and my plazma is hungry.
-
I bet you could sell those mirrors to mikemike so he can be like Roy :)
-
that was a lot of work.
rear axle back in service.
Tcase is messed up and shifting like when i got it. its slipping into 4x4, and a pile to try to get it into low and the back to 2. tried adjusting it, no go. might have bent something when it locked up or when i yanked on it.
was working 100% before lockup.
-
if you are looking to replace the t-case.. I will have an extra 231 and slip yoke shaft after I swap in the rubi-case... if that happened to happen sooner rather than later it could be yours.. hint. hint.
-
cracker, you have all the parts you need, case and rear shaft, bolt on swap?
-
shaft needs shortening and possible skid plate massaging... here is a good write up.. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f9/241-rock-track-install-into-97-tj-399875/
things it does not answer:
1.) is pinion angle, I am not sure if that will need to be corrected. If so how.. I do not currently have adjustable arms
2.) I really would prefer to get rid of the t-case drop so I probably need to do the body lift or see if we can massage the floor to make it fit.
-
meh, ok.
sounds like work. I think mine is going to get pulled tonight and take apart. something has to be bent or messed up.
-
Shouldn't need a body lift if no tummy tuck. Definitely dump the t-case lowering spacers. If you have a CV in the rear shaft already, your pinion should be within 2 degrees of shaft angle.
-
putting the 241 on a 231 skid plate causes the case and the shift linkage to hit the tub
I don't currently have CV.
-
Need a Rubicon skid plate? :-D
-
Need a Rubicon skid plate? :-D
bolt holes supposedly don't line up.. :(
-
That's "boo" worthy!
-
i left the buddy heater in this thing last night to try and dry out the floors that are still sopping wet from whispering pines 2 weeks ago....
i shop vacuumed out a couple gallons of mud and sponge dried as much more as i could. I think its going to take a couple more days with the heater. lol
-
put the front end back in this thing tonight for hopfully the last time for a while. no one late stocks dana 30 inner axle seals, bah!
the case in this thing is fucked, pisses me off, it was working awesome at rausch and the pines.
-
I have that 231 and plenty of Dana 30 seals of you need...
-
ya, need 23 spline, and dont want to swap any parts because i think its got some warn or bad parts.
-
if the case happened to disappear from my TJ it would be more incentive to get moving on the rest...
-
i have a new chain kit if you want to fuck around with it
-
mine is a 231HD
bigger chain and main shaft is different
-
i think i need to do some reading, there is 1/2" of end play that i dont remember before. i thought i read something about a C clip breaking and it was a common occurance.
-
that could make sense...
-
this pile has a new exhaust finially and a brand new fuel pump that did zero to the kicking out. nothing else to replace in ignition or fuel. FML.
-
PCM flash
-
Or wiring issues :(
-
had to break a tire down on this hog it was flat twice this week. lots o bubbles on the outer bead! all good now!
-
Josh went to WP yesterday and saw this thing in action!
-
ya, one of the dyno guys at work said he went and saw my old jeep
