Title: James' 04 TJ
Post by: carchameleon on November 27, 2012, 11:36:01 PM
My friend who came to the after meeting tonight, his TJ is on 33's, I think his plan is to go 35's and 8.8
He just texted me this http://buffalo.craigslist.org/pts/3326719460.html
4.88's are small for a Dana30, right?
He's going to check the jy tomorrow and see what they say

Someone should snap that up (for me).  I would but don't have the time to go get it.

Pm sent, Ryan.

I think that my friend bought that 8.8 a week or so ago.

Edit: Just checked with him and yeah he got it a few weeks ago.

so is $300 still a decent price from a jy for a 8.8 with 4.10's?
sounds high?

4.88's are small for a Dana 30 anyways, right?
or are tj's a little different?

TJ are LP, so 4.88 are worse than in an HP XJ 30.
I paid 100 with brakes at u pull for an 8.8 with 4.10 open. They also some in LS, so make sure he's getting what he wants.

i paid 300 for my 8.8 w/4.10
depends on how hard you want to look...

4.88 in a 30 for anything other than street use is prob not good for the long haul..

but that statement has been proven wrong before..

I've seen it proven to fail more often than seen to live if I'm remembering right - and Joe G's have eaten pinion bearings once now but I'm not sure that was the gears' fault. I'd still be surprised if they last too much longer and then I think I'd be at 3 fails to 1 live - and the D30 I saw live had the rear D35 ring gear bolts back out before the front had a chance to fail.
