Guess I don't have a thread for my truck so I'm making this one now.

I've been wanting to regear my truck to 4.10s.
Asked a local shop about it. Here's what they said:

The labor rate for the front is $770 and the rear is $550.
Factors that may change that amount is a large lift kit, E-lockers, or a truck from the North with heavy rust.
Gear package is $1080 and shop supplies (cleaners, gear oil, etc.) is $55.
Grand total out the door would be: $2535.
We would need the truck for two days.
Isn't that an insane price? ~$1.1k for that gear kit? ~$1.5k labor?

i typically charge 400 labor per axle. which included all shop supplies and oil
500 if other annoying factors.
your IFS ish thing might be annoying to pull. it might even been a clam shell diff thats not a conventional style diff i dont know. i stick to mostly straight axles and jeeps. done a few big things which are the same just heavy.
im not up on GM costs, but new JKs is about 600$ total parts for everything in 2 diffs (yukon gears, Timken bearings and master install kits)
in short, i would say the labor cost is not off far, but i would research parts cost, and ask what kind of gears / what kind of bearings are they quoting and check on that your self.

and you have what 3.73 now? doubt going to 4.10 will make that much of a difference in anything to make it worth the bill.

Right now it has 3.42s. With my tires, it means I'm essentially driving with a 3.16 ratio (and even worse when I install 295/65r20 tires in a year or so) and to bring my truck "back to stock" would be 3.73s which is why I was considering going higher to 4.10s.
I did think about 4.56s but I drive 80-90mph on a regular basis so I think my truck will suffer if it had 4.56s. Am I correct with this assessment?

At >$2,000 I’ll be looking at supercharger kits a lot. 100rwhp gain.
Put bigger tires on first and see how it drive first? The 6 speed have low first and double overdrives, so.
Shop around & you’ll find better deals. Labor cost probably will go down a good bit if you pull front differential and bring it to them.
Yes I bought it for only $28. I’d sell it to you but it’s 4.88.

If it's gonna cost me $2k, I'll just live with what it is now. It's not terrible. I was hoping it'd be more like $1kish.
