Title: 54 chevy 5w

brought home a 54 chevy 5 window in ok shape with papers. couldnt tell in the pictures but its got a ford box and ford tail gate. didnt look at drivetrain, but it has a ford 9" axle, 8lugs, dually outers in rear :o rolled and steered. some flat glass broke but the hard expensive stuff is good. dash good and complete, seat even goodish. good papers too.

pulled old radiator from front clip
banged out some dents
installed ebay trim emblems / some black CHEVROLET stressed paint
fixed 9 chewed wires in LS harness
trimmed up LS harness for ignition, keep alive, crank, fuel pump inputs.

Post by: M4wdFab on April 11, 2020, 03:47:01 PM: confirmed stuck open #2 injector so that needs fixing. motor semi idling with white smoke on 7 cylinders. i only have a green blue PCM with vats deleted that doesn't have an IACV driver and a 5.3 tune so that wasn't helping.

Post by: M4wdFab on April 13, 2020, 07:50:37 PM: stole 8 injectors from the big cam 5.3. new exhaust manifold gaskets and bolts. runs great now.

engine and trans checked out ok. chassis prep completed.

font body work, new marker lights, new rear window glass 1/3 installed. takes me 3 days to do a rear window or my arms and hands will hurt for weeks lol

welding and cab support / repairs next.

sold the ford box to first guy that came, 550$ win.

Post by: M4wdFab on April 16, 2020, 07:27:51 PM: day two of putting metal back to the cab of this thing. ugh! hope to finish up tin work and center body mount structure tomorrow. should be able to start fitting the cab to chassis by tomorrow.

fun fact, YJ hood corners at firewall are just about a perfect match for 47-54 chevy front cabs :)

first body drop on chassis.

5th time i have done this gen cab? getting pretty easy.

should be mounted up and a roller tomorrow, then brake for a few days to switch projects

fixed driver door handles and mounted both door pannels, 16gage floor repairs made, rubber floor installed.

flat bed base started.

filler neck fabbed and installed
cats deleted
new muffler welded in

needs some rattle taken out of the passenger door, and flatbed wood.

probably time to investigate DMV options and get it plated.

bed wood work completed, headake rack wood screwed down and sealed

bottom and sides of deck sealed.

needs deck screws and side steps then done.
