Title: Local auctions talk!
Post by: M4wdFab on February 26, 2020, 09:54:12 PM
online auctions seem to have my fancy lately.  they are just fun, and probably addicting.

up next, IR closed in Buffalo.  looks like they have 300+ lots going, same company thats doing the delphi auctions.

fawk me that was a lot of work.  chip flaked on me no show.  left work at 11:30 and just got home now.  parked the truck loaded as landed in the barn.  humped and loaded and strapped solo.  im tired.

probably over $3K in electrical supplies.  Got some good lumber, conduit, uni strut, and sprinkler lines lol.  10-20' lengths of all.

boxes of 20amp stuff.  need to check out the battery charger and jump box.  alot of other stuff i really didnt look at.

probably 80% usuable stuff i need or have needed for barn / house 20% random or trash.   not bad for 137$

(i would have paid 137$ more though to carry it out and load it)

just caught my search eye because its located within walking distance.  probably the tire shop, or the machine shop down the road.

That reminds me of an auction that my biz was looking at.

One lot of several pallets had hundreds of toners at a university. Listing said all *should* be new, but did not 100% claim it was all 100% new.  Listing also said most were genuine HP toners (retail value $150-250ea easy).  Listing strongly encouraged on site inspection before conclusion of auction.  Sold as-is, must prepay before pickup.  The university was like 30 minutes away, so I decided to go and check.  I'm glad I did!  It was 80% new remanufs and the new genuine were all open boxes.  The auction sold for like $10k.    Whoever bought it is totally HOSED!

It was a clusterfuck. They were so poor with their descriptions.

if its anything like how are building is going, the people running the auctions look at it as a pree garbage service- the more that goes the less they deal with regardless of value.

anyone try to go to one of these?  has to be a shit show.  last one had 95~ cars up for auction

they only let the first 40 people in.  cash only on site, 30 minutes to do exterior inspection only, probably no keys either

I can’t believe they’re taking the overhead of all those laptops and displays and not having a Matt buy the lot. Insanity.

Tell me about it.  Not worth my time/risk to bid on individual items.

If all of the monitors were in 1 lot, all of the laptops in 1 lot, I'd be interested and look closer at specs, etc.

Also seller dealing with 1-2 buyers for 1-2 lots is easier than multiple buyers.  Makes no sense.

As they all are listed individually, easy pass.
