Title: Aaron's TJ
Post by: cracker on February 20, 2012, 12:23:01 PM
As a few of you learned Sara really wants me to get the TJ fixed... so this will be a place to start  discussion.

1.) SMike- after installing a pre-made long arm lift on a TJ.. how hard do you think it would be to make our own?  I currently have 2 brand new adjustable short arm lower links and 2 used "non-adjustable"i.e. rusted solid short arm lower links all with bushing on each end.

doing something like what keith or nick has on the front would be way easier than trying to copy a bolt on long arm kit...

your talking money in parts before we get into labor though...

mainly just asking is it worth(time & $) trying to build a long arm lift from scratch compared to buying one off the shelf and installing.

I am afraid of what I am going to find once we start the case swap so I sorta want to be prepared.

rule of thumb, anything you can find on the internet as far as bolt on lift / bumpers / sliders / is always cheaper than doing custom one off work... just how it goes.

Free labor when working on your own rig is the only way its cheaper....

that kit right there is 400$ in rod ends / bushings, and about 300$ in 1/4" plate and 2x2x1/4" square
