Title: Hey Jared (wedgie wheels/tires, again)
Post by: mr.mindless on April 29, 2013, 05:29:09 PM
What do you have available in 8 lug trailer wheels?

the 265/70r60 LRE Grabbers are good in load rating but not so much in size.

Not sure if I want to spend the money on another set of 19.5s, but the trailer I was thinking of replacing both of these with just sold over the weekend, so this guy will still be getting some use. Looking to keep cost to a minimum since the thing is a pile.

Saw a set of Vison Wheel 19.5s at The Cove. Found them for $180ea, ship 4 for $77. Alloy wheels.

They do dual wheels too. Much cheaper than Rickson/Stockdon from the last time I looked. Almost worth it? Probably very sellable/useful if I dump the trailer, but I'm getting better about hating having money sitting tied up in things I don't use (yes, really. notice how much I haven't been buying lately?).

I'm essentially back to "must swap tires to use" which isn't an acceptable status.

Let me see what my wheel supplier has in the way of 19.5's tomorrow. If I can't touch those I'll at least throw you a price on some of the heaviest 16" I can find

Sounds good. 3750# is the numbers I'm seeing on 16" trailer wheels and that's lighter than my personal happy spot.

It occurs to me that if studs are too short for a 1/4"+ spacer plus wheel they may be pretty short or an aluminum wheel too

Matching studs has been hard in the past but that's a good point.

That would be a serviceable combo with $30 in studs and nuts if there's a longer stud available.

I'll have to pull some drums.

Still waiting to hear back on aluminum, but heavier duty steel wheels with the 235/85R16 Gladiator load range F would be ~$235 each (sales tax included, tire mounted on wheel with high pressure stem.)
3960lb capacity (both tire and wheel).
Only catch would be time- shipping from the west coast on a slow load- 2 weeks out.
If another of my suppliers comes through with something better, I'll post up quick.

That shipping is a pretty painful wait but the price is great.
