Title: Ladder Rack
Post by: etk300ex on May 31, 2016, 10:25:20 AM
Looking for a ladder rack for canoe/kayaks.  Full size 6.5' bed.  Anyone got one laying around?

Might go take a look at this, this weekend:  http://syracuse.craigslist.org/pts/5559919774.html

$250 seems steep for used but maybe you get what you pay for on those units.

Seems like it could be built from good steel for $100 in materials.

That is a nicer unit; length, width, height adjustable.

Picked up a Weather Guard aluminum ladder rack for $125, $700 rack new.  Back half is brand new in box.  One of the front uprights is cracked at the base.  I can get a new one for $120, but I would rather have it welded to a piece of 2x4 square tube so I can just bolt it on to the bed sides and keep my tool box.  Can anyone weld this?

Put a gusset in there too, if you can

Yeah not a bad idea, I'm thinking chop if off at the base and weld it to a piece of tube.

If no one here has the time (or in my case, the equipment), Benemy Welding in Phelps has done some work on my aluminum trailer for cheap.
