just a stock photo kept for comparison, no relevance
-
well I have everything but eh brackets in stock..
also.. the cast iron frame mount for 72-75 jeeps is sometimes like hens teeth to find.. just FYI...
-
Eds jeep is a TDK frame, so the cast mount that slips inside the frame rail as i recall wont work. I think the later ones showed in the CL add above would be best bet
-
I have 2 engines kicking around here.
What year?

its looking like we will end up swapping the intake on eds jeep. it needs to be a 2bb intake with the holes inline parallel to the cylinder holes

I might have one on parts CJ..
-
i believe its the kind that bolts through to the exhaust manifold with 4 studs like my 75 had
-
erik, what engines you have and what $$ you need? looking at options to keep Eds cost down. the jeep will be in the shop first week of September to do this swap.
-
I have 1- 1985 4.2 with power steering intake. It came out of the propane powered cj buggy.
Sitting on a carpet dolley.
I'd like to sell the complete motor.
How's 200.00?

did this motor run well?
-
I40k miles when speedo was removed for buggy use.
Low compression but mechanically sound.
Good candidate for rebuild

hmmm
jeep will be here next Monday! need to figure this out haha
-
looking at this- i think his alternator needs to move to the other side.
ill think it will be easier to just grab this motor from you if it has the alternator brackets too.
do you have a single plane steel power steering pump pulley to throw in?
-
these pullys are NOT ALL THE SAME..
-
just a P pump, every one i have ever taken off is the same jeep and chevy v belt. dual or single will work
if not i can grab one from J&J or dig harder for one i might have.
-
watch the offset.. went through several pulley on the 360 before I found the correct one..
early pumps are key.. later are press on..
-
ah, ill update my PN then i just want a 4 bolt press p pump. was wondering why Advance auto shows a key'd pulley for 40$
-
then you will need metric to SAE adapter on pressure line....
its a hot mess getting everything right...
most of these parts will be special order.. I can get but don't know when jeep is coming in
-
its really not- its all chevy and same jeep crap used for 35 years- ill just ignore its a 73. was trying to use PN that when yahoo looks it up to later replacement they match
ive done this twice before- first time ran into the manifold not having required boss bolts though.
-
jeep here today
-
I wonder if 87-90 YJ 258 will be better
-
could be... i really didnt pushing getting parts, because the other really nice wrench thrown into it.... its a TDK frame. have no idea what OEM mount holes or brackets will fit.
Plan on taking the week to just get parts im sure ill be running around a bit.
-
I didn't realize it was that complicated, we shoulda pulled the power steering stuff off the parts Eagle before I sent it down the road.
-
there is a CJ7 in my lot too for reference :)
-
Go to advance adapters.

change of plans. water pump is different too. instead of 10 hours of moving water pump, changing intake, moving alternator to other side, belt changes, pulley changes- going to just do a custom bracket and plop a second belt on with the PS pump on the passenger side.
will get AN6 hydro line and standard return line. done. 4 bolt box confirmed to be fine- had OEM bracket bolted to TDK frame. non lift power pitman will be fine.
such a cool jeep. ed loves it!
-
I seem to recall running into issues while trying to mount the steering box and brackets Ed supplied within the holes provided in the TDK frame. The brackets were most likely not original.

are we sure its a 258?
early ones are funky...
-
its a 232 or 258. its a factory 4 bolt box bracket that is two stamped plates. Being a 73, it probably originally had the cast bracket that slides inside the frame like my 75 had- maybe thats what issue you had.
the water pump is just different outlet- it points up instead of pointing down.
i think im all set. just need to get a box and pump, ill make the line as it will be longer.
-
That's right. The 73 brackets would not slide inside the frame. So I used some I had from 80's parts CJs
