Wheels had been backordered. Sunfire rec'd theirs yesterday in Indiana, so mine could be today, or Monday.
USA-made stubs and CTMs will be here Saturday from East Coast Gear Supply. I was going to go with Nitro joints (they state plainly that their USA-made stubs _will_ break a Spicer joint, no problem, and will only warrant them once for a joint break. Upgraded joints = lifetime warranty) but they actually called me suggesting I go with Yukon Superjoints or CTMs. The Nitros have had issues with galling, and new caps costs as much as a whole joint ($80/cap!). Chose CTMs over Superjoints after seeing Matt's issues with play and squeaking, and since they're supposedly more durable to daily driving duty that we do in long races.

crammed all prep into one night. Meaning not much prep. put a passenger seat in, and broke a front shifter putting it on the trailer, so had to clean that up and re-weld. weird it lasted as long as it did and then failed now (poor weld, lasted all the way from redoing the floor and swapping in the new trans way back when)

other CTM and ECGS stub shaft are in the tool bag. hopefully the caliper keeper bolt is happy (bent wheel sheared the head off the left side unit. right side not evaluated)

need to redo my buggy tools since getting the tool cart in the garage, and evaluate what really needs to go with. Random assortment now.

only one spare tire going with, others not reassembled yet.

I checked - had 37 hours on campus so far this week when I got home. It really feels like a lot more than that.

I think I lost an exhaust valve seal. Suddenly started blowing way more smoke with no other symptoms. Collector gasket on driver side is wet with raw (well, cooked...) oil

Schieße.

Trans also running hot crawling. I forgot what rec wheeling is like. Feels like I’m in high range with I 2:1 doing technical stuff and hard climbs.

Tried and failed to stuff it through the CV notch.

No other issues. Ride seems great. Seems stable not that I’ve cornered hard.

- hot trans even after adding another 2qt. It idled empty in park, and tried and failed to go one when empty. Enough to do damage? Fluid in it now is burned. I saw 270+ when crawling and it would not cool quickly. Still held gears fine.

- radiator pinhole in 2nd to bottom row. How best to mount in current position?

- I think I'm still touching one lower front shock eye with the steering arm

- running like shit and blowing blue smoke. Minimal oil usage for the amount of smoke. Need to do compression test. If it has solid compression I need to get a passenger o2 on it, maybe a thermostat to stay in closed loop, and get a scan tool on it to see what else it thinks is wrong.

there are five 6.0s on CL right now from 700-1400 in various configurations. No 5.3, at least that include "5.3" in the ad - that seems a useful way to sell one.
didn't dig through cheap trucks.

compression test first....
