mine as well start a thread...... it sounds like this will happen from one of us
http://rochester.craigslist.org/cto/4582632072.html
-
haha
im seriously considering this, + side is you could even line mountain this
-
Sure could. Would suck in it's class since it doesn't meet buggy rules, but would still be fun!
Bernie's said they're all over near the park for $400-700
Tapatalking in traffic
-
would just be 4 cyl truck class? or does it need to be 4x4 for line mt 4 cyl?
-
Something about remote resi shocks in rules too I thought? As in remote resi in automatically puts you in buggy class
-
I was expecting 4cyl without reading anything. I'm sure some of the 6cyl class cars have remotes. maybe it could fit unlimited buggy, being 4x2?
-
RCI fuel cel
http://rochester.craigslist.org/pts/4612048644.html
Older RCI cell. Never used. Has bladder inside with foam in it. Dimensions are 26 17.5 9.75 $40
-
certainly looks like an RJS to me but good score non-the less. too bad its only 15 gallons.
-
grab it troy!
-

clearly I didn't look at it when writing the ad
LMK when you want to pick it up. Marion St Rochester

That looks like a bro lite chase truck to me!

A 1997 Ranger has 112 HP and better brakes than the previous years......

When and where is the Rochester race?

should get jeff to rent out his track, or run one at Lyons

Or both. Could be a 4 race local season!

-
I need a project this winter......
-
Can you enter it at a Line Mtn race also?
-
not sure what class you would be in, but that would be rough lol
-
The buggies are on similar size tires, with some shock tuning I think it could be a 'go'
Downside for at least three of us is that it would run at the same time as the U4 class cars.
-
79hp @ 3800 RPM (1983 - 1985) Manual
82hp @ 4200 RPM (1983 - 1985) Auto
90hp @ 4000 RPM (1986 - 1988)
100hp @ 4600 RPM (1989 - 1995)
112hp @ 4800 RPM (1996 - 1997)
Looks like you really want a 96 or 97
-
http://rochester.craigslist.org/cto/4656814615.html
-
Thats exactly what is needed, but from a sate that does not use salt on the roads,
-
i just read the rules.
DOM required is lame
open for spendy shocks is lame
all other rules good.
-
They have a Fox shock package, No hydro bumps is lame, Im ok with DOM, HREW would be fine, but for that cage it might cost $200 more for DOM, Meh
I like spendy shocks, they are shiny and nice........
-
Something that passes inspection is too nice!
-
dont care about NY truck, most of it will be cut off, and the rest stays stock. its gona last 6months and be wrecked anyway
-
i got tires :)

find some 17" wheels yet? run some Maxxis short course tires?!?
-
I want the Explorer 8.8 with the deepest shit they've got.
I don't think you want anything bigger than 32-33". hundered ponies remember....
-
Explorer 8.8 is no good, breaks the rules about stock brakes.
-
I saw your FB.
-
Ranger 8. 8 I guess will work fine. 5.13 gears
-
From what I've found your truck may not have a 8.8, they were standard in 4.0l models but can't find about 4 bangers, 6.14 is the deepest you can find, newer 8.8 have 31 spline older are 28spline, rangers never had disk brakes
-
Yea, it will have a 7.5" but swapping in a Ranger 8.8 should be legal. 6.13 might be too deep, wow.
-
6.13? Holy crap. Might use 4th gear with those if you can keep a pinion in it!
Tapatalking in traffic
-
if your ordering tube keep me in mind, i need 3 sticks
-
M4 will be getting it for the tube work. Im not going to trust a cage I build for safety.
-
Im thinking 1.75" .120" for the main hoops and 1.5" .090" for the rest.
-
-A,B, and C pillars must be constructed of at least 1.5″x.120″ DOM or Chromoly tubing(no HREW, pipe, or conduit allowed)
-
any pics of this machine?
-
It will be delivered today at 4:30, Pics to follow.
-
lets gear it and run maxxis tires. put some feet in these guys mouths on FB
-
Did I just see this machine on a dolly behind an explorer?
-
o god, yes. such win for delivery style points.
-
oh my!
-
Yes. That's was it bro-lighting
-
that doesnt look like a rusty pile
-
too nice, send it back!

Its a pile. No doubt. Spins the tires just fine. :)

can this be explained or pointed out to me..
I have access to a few of these rangers
-
http://www.broliteracing.com/
83-97 Ranger 2wd 4cyl 5-speed, Basically no modifications, Roll cage and shocks.
-
got it..
looks interesting
-
I'm in for this.
Need to race something soon or I'm gonna lose my mind.
Found a ton on CL but they either want a fortune or they are rotten. I'd rather pay a few bucks more for less rust. But 1800 seems like top end for a 96-97 2wd ranger
-
we are a weird market with the rust. pick one up closer to Rausch with WAY less rust for similar money.
-

Miller makes lower shock mounts
-
Chart of DOM weights.
http://www.teamtubellc.com/en/products/round-tubing-products/mechanical-tubing/drawn-over-mandrel.aspx
-
I think I would like 1.750x .095" main hoops, 1.5"x.095" braces, door bars and shock mount areas, 1.25"x.095 seat mounts and other non-load places. Get some 16ga 1" square for mounting of bedsides and fenders.
What are the thoughts? Max weight on the full Ranger will be about 2400-2600 when done and complete. The title says 2988, removing 400 to 500 seems reasonable. The seats weighed about 75 on their own.
-
sounds good, smaller quantity of 3 sizes will bump price
what like?
60' of 1.75
40' of 1.5
20' of 1.25
20' of 16g 1" square
for each car?
-
rules say .120 must be used for main pillars
-
1x5"x.120 or similar strength, 1.75"x.095 is similar strength. I believe Tim used it on his main hoops as well.
-
Tubing with a smaller diameter or thinner than .120″ may be used for areas not mentioned above.
to me, that means areas above need 120 doesnt say similar anywhere. lets clear this up
-
id send scott a message, but i am unable to do that mobile thanks to FB messenger non functional characteristics
-
A,B, and C pillars must be constructed of at least 1.5″x.120″ DOM or Chromoly tubing(no HREW, pipe, or conduit allowed)
At least 1.5"x.120 ??
-
Just sent him a message.
-
Keep me in the material loop.
I'll buy with you guys to help w price
-
Scott said its ok to use 1.75"x.095" on main hoops.
-
sounds good, smaller quantity of 3 sizes will bump price
what like?
60' of 1.75
40' of 1.5
20' of 1.25
for each car?
so, all 095 x3 then erik / Ryan?
ill get a quote sent out today
-
Sounds good.
-
I need 3 lengths of 1-1/2 of well possibly more depending on price
-
1.5x120 wall HREW troy?
-
If you got confirmation from the higher ups that .095 is acceptable. Then I guess I'm ok.
Even though personally I would rather build with 1.75 x .120
How much more weight realistic
-
25 lbs diff for 60' 1.75" .095 to .120
remember its in a full body thats ment to take at least one roll semi ok already
-
True true
Ok I'm with you guys
Include me in the order.
-
We can make up tabs and brackets and things on the plasma table if you want
it'll give me an excuse to buy a bigger plasma cutter
Those make good anniversary presents right?
-
A body that's got a main structural element (windsheild) removed, and is potentially chopped up significantly...
Not saying 1.75 x .095 isn't enough - just saying don't count on a body that you're gutting for weight, seat clearance, etc.
-
WWCD?
What would chip do?
LoL
-
well let me know, sending out the RFQ after i get back from lunch
all in 20' lengths
(9) 1.75 x .095 DOM steel tube
(6) 1.5 x .095 DOM steel tube
(3) 1.25 x .095 DOM steel tube
(4) 1.75 x .120 HREW steel tube
(4) 1.5 x .120 HREW steel tube
-
1.5x120 wall HREW troy?
Ya Mon,
-
Can you add some how's with these bad boys https://rochester.craigslist.org/pts/4687539410.html

I won't accept anything less than 80 Amps
-
WWCD?
What would chip do?
LoL
I would go with the thicker wall for mains - don't want to bother with being grandfathered in like older KOH buggies and the new tube sizing rules
-
or you could put some real injectors in. i know this guy
-
A quick search gave me this chart, http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/general-4x4-discussion/216233-tubing-strength-chart-weight-per-foot.html
Looks like an 8% difference in tensile strength,
-
We can race these in Lemons or Chump car too.......
-
That's kinda cool. I wonder how slow and unreliable they are compared to the average lemons car

removing a windsheild has got to be almost the most annoying thing i have done. i will never not pay someone else to do that.
my side windows had some gooop on them that was also a pain in the ass to remove.
rear window poped out clean.

Are you reselling the windshield? If not, why not use your feet to shove it out? That'd be easy.

you have obvously never done that. no chance, its not like the movies lol

-
Whats the group consensus on wheel selection? Do you think steel or aluminum would hold up better?
-
Aluminum is lighter, less rotating mass, better acceleration. They are plenty strong enough.
-
thursday or friday is good Ryan, it runs and moves still right?
-
id like to run some aluminum mustang 17" wheels with my Maxxis tires, or at least get them to fit. maybe race with something smaller
i have a ton of YJ wheels lol
-
Yea I agree with aluminum for weight savings.
Wasn't sure on their durability.
Planning to run Snow tires.
-
i have snows on my lite, they are 205's though lol
-
Cheap wheels all over CL.
Winter force snows we had on Cora's patriot were amazing.
89.00 each if I remember correctly for a 17" wheel.
Cheapest "Racing" tire I've ever bought
-
The pat pat drifted a few dirt road corners in its day 8)
-
Can y'all keep your costs together on your brojects, I'd love to see what the cost is race ready.
-
others have said around 3k, and that seems right to me. 1500 for a caged thing assuming materials only, 500 in shocks, and a grand in safety, sundries, and tires.
-
I guess I have not looked at shock prices in a while.
2.5" remote res Fox are about $450 each?
-
~200ea for 2"
https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=2x10+remote+resi+shock&tbm=shop
not sure what sort of "package" Miller has put together, or how well tuned it may/may not be out of the box at this point.
I think all so far are on 2s, not 2.5s, but I wasn't looking closely at that when I did my check ride.
-
You are correct sir, 2.0
From Facebook
Shock pricing is here, $750+shipping for a set of 4. Message me for details and we can get your order placed. We are setting up practice dates, so please let me know when your trucks will be ready and we can get you out in them.

tube in the shop!
-
so looks like
6-900$ truck
400 tube
500 for a seat, cell, harnesses, fuel lines / brake lines
750$ for shocks
50 for fire ext
50 for disco / wiring
radiator / fluids
brakes
ya its about 3K and 30hrs labor
-
There you go, Smike you should build them and sell for $5k turn key racer.
-
No word back on shock packages yet. :'(
-
FOA are $160ish a piece for a 2.5"

No reply from Miller regarding shock packages.
-
Just did a little research on the new FOA shocks. They have changed from aluminum body to steel body, that was most of the problem with the old ones.
Dan Guyer seems to love them, and the people running the new ones are not bitching as much.
I dont think I will try them, but someone trying to save money might give them a shot. Seems risky.....
-
oh f me, i thought the cars were 1.5", guess ill just get 3 :-[
4 sticks of this showed up this morning if anyone needs 1.5" x 120 HREW.

i think thats just a stud mount shock valved for factory truck.
no clue on 98 diff

Am I reading the rules correctly?
"Differentials are open"
I assume open means no restrictions.
The next line of the rules reads "ring and pinion ratios are open"
So we can swap in any rear axle.
Need some disc brakes.
But they"must remain stock"
-
Differentials are open: you can leave it open, do a limited slip, spool it, weld it, lunchbox it, selectable it, Detroit it... And run any gears in it.
-
Why would the rules say ring and pinion ratios are open?
-
open to anything available.....
i got the heavy XLT tow package with 4.10's!

Differentials are open: you can leave it open, do a limited slip, spool it, weld it, lunchbox it, selectable it, Detroit it... And run any gears in it.

been talking to wayne about shocks for 572, i asked about brolite shocks also.

-
I've got a text in to Decker. Thanks GBR
No replies from "THE KING" after 2 email attempts from 2 of my different address.

where are you finding for $680, and what length? a 14" even with free shipping i see 740
-
From Scott
" Yeah we are allowing 8.8 swaps. We haven't found much advantage to doing it yet, but haven't really pushed the limits yet either."
-
awesome erik, thanks.
running 35's ill deff swap in an 8.8
Troy, Ryan scored a race sponsored discount code, it was 150$ off my cart... havent pulled the trigger either way, id like to have the same as ryan, but whatever we can manage quick
-
I got tired of waiting for them, and FOA are cheaper, Staying int he bro-lite spirit...

What's the lowest avail ratio?
-
acording to Miller, 5.87

-
Who is strange?
Never heard of them!
-
Strange axles are huge with the drag guys

But can they hold up to the HP of the BRO?
-
http://www.strangeengineering.net/dragrace/gear-sets-installation-kits/ford-8in-8-8in.html

I'm on phone
-
page 2 has 5.14, 5.71, 6.14"s
-
Oh yea I didn't see pages.
-
From Scott...
"We haven't played with it much, right now Tim is the only one who regeared, he went with 4.56 and is happy but also his truck doesn't seem any faster than ours so it's hard to tell"
-
Well I should go with 5:17 and then we will have a wide range to test with.
-
Yes 4.88
6.14 will have about 1/2 of a tooth engagement, sounds strong.
-
I can't believe gears could be broken with 100hp but they sure are small...

perches just on the wrong side. might be a good drop kit!
-
iirc, the f150 8.8s are wider.
-
Makes sense
;)
Do the explorer axles come in both 31 or 27 spline?
-
explorer should all be 31.
ranger and mustang are 27
95 and up is disk brake.
no carrier brake on this hog.

Much appreciated info Thanks
I have no previous 8.8 knowledge. ..

not really
god i would hate line mt in a bro lite lol
-
LM would kinda suck in one of these units. Suck right out loud.
-
Ok
-
Why would it such? Leaf sprung cj can do good. Why not a Ranger with good shocks?
-
no chance
-
The only 4x2s that are there are buggies.
Shit is ROUGH.
I don't think you can make something front engined and 500# heavier get out of its own way on that course like a VW buggy can. I'm _ALL_ for you proving me wrong - and it might be fun anyway (in a trail tampon sort of way).
-
i have a good on board video of punting a broken 4x4 mini truck with only RWD up one of the hill climbs
haha
-
come to think of it, I pushed a buggy up a hill too. yeah..
-
Our rangers would do better. LOL
99% driver skill baby!
-
Smike do i owe you money for gears?
-
8.8 sitting on the ground. Ready for gear swap.
Gotta make some calls and negotiate a locker sponsor for my BRO. ;)
-
they wont give me a dealer account. i forgot about this. no. sorry. have been in KOH mode. pretty done with brolite since my clutch blew bah
-
Ha ha.
I understand. I'll put the CEO on it. We need a Gear sponsor anyway.
-
they asked a lot of questions and probably my fault for slacking. They have the best gear prices on sale right now by far till end of DEC i believe
-
some one on FB that knows the owner of this place asked me if we would be interested in setting up a race here
http://www.broome-tioga.com/demoderby.html
guy has 200 acers and wants to shift from MX to trucks a little this year. has equipment to build track, but doesnt know what to build. would host ultra4 also.

Ha ha.
I understand. I'll put the CEO on it. We need a Gear sponsor anyway.
I can help you guys with this....

For Sale
We are moving and it would cost more to ship it than to sell it.

congrats, hope for good things.

Looking in Southern Utah later this week. Hoping to like the area. We will see.....

Looking to expand the family in Utah? LOL

good somebody to visit and ship my jeep too for EJS....
last person that went from Rochester to Utah was Joseph Smith right?
-
We are planning to make the trip to Easter Jeep this year. It's gonna be rough only a month after KOH.
Arie maybe DJ can pick up your YJ on the way through NY.
-
You guys are seriously going?
Might need to check religious obligation ( Easter and Passover go hand in hand unfortunatly...)
-
Do Easter and Passover out there

Yup. I'm getting tired of doing all the cooking, cleaning and laundry myself.

You go girl.
Me too. ;)
-
I put a call in to Fox Race program for 3 sets of Brolite smoothies, along with my rear shocks for the buggy.
-
you-erik-me?
-
ya
Also talked to Decker
First race is Augusta WV Mountaineer motocross May 24th!
Big dogs and brolite! i have the 25th off for holiday!
-
sweet. in, just let me know the $.
not 100% sure this unit will be done for end of May. gonna fix it and plate it for some shifting practice I guess.
either of you do the shackle flip? Where's that put ride height compared to stock bump stops?
-
had days mixed up. not BigDogs weekend. boo
-
Yes shake flip levels it out nicely.
-
i didnt, i need the height with my rubber selection
-
We have been talking to Fox also regarding our 2015 builds.
Let's talk before you commit to 3 sets.
-
ok
sounds like Miller still has a pallet of them
-
Yea that's what someone said from KOH.
I'll get an update from Cora.
-
I have a list of Parts I've already ordered from Nuway farmington.
Mostly suspension and engine related.
I'll try and post #s at some point to aid in future parts ordering from HAHN.
-
are you guys on the FOX race program yet?
-
We are currently working with Fox on creating a marketing partnership with Torq-Masters.
-
I'm not in with Fox, I'm sure you'd guessed as much.
I should, want to get 2.5s under 571.
-
Matt applied before KOH, hasn't herd back yet.
-
Hmm. Sounds like I should really rush right out and do that, then :-/
-
Before I forget again...
We are at least officially on the Fox Racer Program as of last week. Still working on the level of marketing partnership we will end up at.
So we will order our Bro shocks with our EMC order.
-
what are you guys thinking for front bump stops?
this is the biggest area of consern on these trucks for me to get them to not blow apart on jumps
-
I haven't looked closely at the beams or radius arms to see how/where the shocks mount. Secondary suspensions are banned per rules but I've got to assume static rubber bump stops are permissible.
Without having looked at anything yet, I'm planning to set shock mounting to bottom the shock before frame contact, and run a shaft stop on the shock, assuming they have no internal cushion. Hard/med/soft available http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Speedthane-223539-Blue-Bump-Stop-2-1-4-Inch-Height-Hard,59315.html
Perhaps a rubber bump between the frame and beam as well - there may be something factory there already? In case the shaft stops blow apart, or a hard hit blows through them.
-
factory stop on the frame there.
rules say rubber or poly bump stops and limit straps allowed.
Not sure if those shock stoppers are in the spirit of the rules. id def not set it up to bottom the shock out though lol
-
i was thinking something like this for the front
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ens-9-9109r/overview/
not wanting to pull a once race one replacement like 571 was though.
-
harness tip:
the inertia switch located in the pass foot well kills motor (fuel pump?). bi pass and short pink and green wire. everything else under the dash junk.
-
maybe better explaination of my thought:
in order of contact from droop to compression:
shock shaft bump
upgraded bump in factory location
fully crushed shaft bump
fully crushed factory location bump stop
~1/2" to shock bottomed
~1/4" to beam crashed to bare frame
should I reverse the last two so if all bump stops fail, the beam crashes the frame before the shock fully bottoms? Laying it out like that, I think you're right. Frame should crash with ~1/8" of shock left. With stops in place, probably wasting about the top inch of shock travel but hopefully won't ever hurt the most expensive part of the truck :)
-
I'd agree. Frame contact before shock fully compressed. I've run the daystar shock bumps a that slip over the end eye on my street CJ7. They seemed to work fairly well on and offroad. They were fairly soft compound. My guess is multiple hard Impacts and they will be getting replaced every race. Can't remember if they offered a harder compound.
I planned to give these bumps a try. They fit the rules and my guess was that a poly bump would hold up better when it's contained within a cylinder.
Stinger Bump Stops.flv: http://youtu.be/UtJm8W_BIjs (http://Stinger Bump Stops.flv: http://youtu.be/UtJm8W_BIjs)
Have to look closer t the truck when I can dig it out of the snow sliding off my shop roof. :(
-
i doubt those will be allowed
Mike dont for get you can put any size shock, probably a 12 or 14 on something that travels 8" at most.... not like 1/8" tolerances need to be in to play...
-
Rules say rubber or poly bumpstops allowed.
It's not air or hydro it's some sort of rubber /poly contained within a tube with a extension shaft. Sounds legal to me.
-
id probably get clarification about secondary suspension.
still don't think those would be allowed.
-
Agreed clarification would make sense before spending the time and $. I just don't consider it a secondary suspension. It's a bumpstop.
-
you sneaky SOB
Decker says they are allowed
-
-
he also said thats a pretty high dollar part for a brolite!
-
Yea it is but breaking suspension parts gets expensive too.
Still in planning stages.
I don't even have a cage yet.
Speaking of cage. I need to get some more tube over here! ;)
-
can you guys check of your beams are cast or fabricated (box / tube)
i can only find 3 degree camber eccentrics, but i guess some trucks came with non cast beams you can bend
-
Mine are cast.
cast into at least the lead beam is something like "do not weld cut drill this part"
-
Mine look cast.
-
ya must be newer are all cast
ranger forums are so terrible with info

So I'm trying to find shocks. I have these FOX part numbers:
FOX 2.0â€x10†& 2.0â€x12â€
SKU: FOX-980-02-032-BL
SKU: FOX-980-02-034-BL
The "BL" must be custom Bro Light valving. I can find the FOX-980-02-032 all over the internet, including Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Fox-Racing-980-02-032-Emulsion-Reservoir/dp/B009X1THHY
Talked to Tim, he doesn't have any shocks and neither does Miller.
Mike Mike - do you have shocks yet? I know Smike's are on order.
-
I may just retire my profender 14s to the brolite. They're probably not worth anything to sell anyway, and that's a grand I could spend on 2.5s for the real car instead - assuming I can find room for 14s up front.
-
I have 3 quotes from ADS coming in soon. From standard to full race mode. Probably going to go with a clicker style at least up front.
-
good to moderate build will take 3 to 5 days at ADS. the full race mode w/ welded res.will take 3 weeks.
-
i went with 12" front and 14" rear for the brolite. mine will probably be a little higher and set up to stretch a little more
-
man looking at the calendar better get butts in gear!
-
You said it
-
Decker said 20$ entry fee
practice is sunday morning
there is mud drag comp saturday

Not including ours?

9 was not including me, probably not you unless you confirmed to him.

ya they are fiberglass, they just screw on to the side of the bed with like 10 torx bolts. we rolled a truck back over on to its wheels and they came right off. couple niks and cracks near the tail lights that ill trim out, so not worth anything to yard. at least 3 clean sets within view

33" is still pretty big too.
I have been looking for some BFG JK take offs that are like 31-32's

there was some talk of v8 ranger class, or 5.3 silverado class next year.......
-
5.3 chevies are VERY in the spirit as far as being cheap easy and everywhere.
My first instinct is to be VERY excited. My second is to be terrified. That’s a lot of horses for activities.
Staying 4x2? If so, not nearly as scary.
I don’t think we could make 4x4 chevy frontends hold up to jumping with stock motor placement plus stock suspension design. Too much weight to live.
I’m not sure what the 4x2 frontend look like but at least we wouldn’t be trashing cv axles constantly when ball joints blow apart.
Tapatalking in traffic
-
i think the little ford motors really keep it interesting and make it a drivers class.
same level of interest and terrified here lol
-
I think they will naturally need to create a class for the big motors. But it will be very difficult to find tracks that have the appropriate run off and safety barriers in place for that much more speed and weight.
Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk

They need to leave it alone and let it grow more
-
it will be very difficult to find tracks that have the appropriate run off and safety barriers in place for that much more speed and weight.
That's the description of the fear I'm feeling. Runoff and barriers are the need. We can't be having headons or hitting Jerseys square on, I don't want to design things that will let us get hurt. If we get into v8 4x4s we'll be going plenty fast to be thinking about crumple zones and safety cells in a short course world so a tee bone or square hit to a wall doesn't kill somebody.

SCHEDULE UPDATE!!
You have been asking, here is what we have so far.
5/14 - Round 1 at Rolling W Ranch - West Sunbury, PA
7/30-7/31 - Round 2 & 3 at Bark River, MI (with TORC, pro classes run this weekend also)
9/10-9/11 - Round 4 & 5 - Rolling W Ranch double header
We will have 1 or 2 more races, but the weekends are not selected yet. They will potentially be points races, but may also treat them as stand alone cup races, based on when we can get the details finalized.
We will have a points championship this year! We will also post full results on finishing order, unlike last year... Each year we get a little better.
Entry fees will be $50/weekend + whatever the venue is going to charge us. This money will be reinvested into the program, to help us grow and get better. Looking forward to a great 2016!!
-
picked J&J for fiberglass bed sides today! lots of new rangers in
scored 3 sets, probably 4 of the 6 are in 95-100%, 2 with some cracks but some 5 min epoxy or zip ties they would be fine before paint!
-
what does bedsides like that usually cost?
I have absolutely no idea and was curious. If you don't want to share what they usually cost, NP. Don't mean to pry.
-
brolite is all about being as cheap as possible but keeping the racing fun and cool factor
we had 4 guys that spent 3 hours pulling parts for varous needs. had a pretty good pile going that i did negotiation on. got him to 100$ for all, which after we settled i was in for less than 50$ for the bedsides.
new aftermarket they are about 450$ a pair.
-
putting together an order for Regular cab tube- have 2 cages to bend up at least pillars for. anyone else want in?
-
Wow, that's cheap for the bedsides! Great deal.
-
in. let me know what we will owe you.
-
going to try and keep it on the cheap, using 1.75x0.095 DOM for main pillars / roof and 1.5"x120 HREW for rest.

Aluminum. I just scrapped one. It was hosed.
-
aluminum and steel were options, but the 01-03 "powerdome" hood was a fiberglass-like composite material. Those came on XLT 4x4's and Edge trim package trucks

racers, send this in to scott. he will ask to fill in a little identification form, truck picture, driver head shot
ATTENTION RACERS!
We are a month away from the first race of the season and I need some information from you. If you have a truck and are planning on racing at the first race of the season, I need you to "register" this year.
Please email me at broliteracing@gmail.com I will send you a driver information sheet and get you on the list. I'm trying to be a little more organized this year and need your help!

FYI
Will called around shopping for springs and found this info:
2wd ranger
rough country 1.5" leveling springs
4 cly 445 spring rate
6 cyl 480 spring rate
superlift
1-2 lift spring 6cyl, 3" in a 4 cylinder
448 spring rate
-
would love to know what stock 5.0 explorer is to compare since that might be used/JY-able.
-
my explorer springs were 67$ shipped for the pair, not worth hassel for rotten JY springs.
-
true! would still be nice to put a number to them. should be able to do the math if they aren't progressive. Just need exact # active coils and coil dia.

we need to step up testing on these units. continual failure for stupid things. getting annoying.
-
i was curious how fast i was going on the straight before the step up jump
2nd gear is 2.2 or 2.25 depending on which Manual 5 speed, 4.10 gears, read line is 6250 from the factory, 26.7" diameter tire (215 70 r15)
thats 55.1mph (wheel speed)
i was bouncing off the rev in 2nd just about 2 truck lengths before the jump consistently after failing to gain anything from shifting to 3rd.
-
I was hitting 55-60 in second at jeffs. Not sure how accurate that is with the tire change but I expect within 15%.
Was hitting 50 before the lane change into the jump whose video I posted

let's build track X
-
I'll build track X in 2 hrs on a week night in my spare time to watch you guys break your trucks as entertainment
fixed it for you jeff
-
whats the word on shocks
looks like my fox contact doesnt work at fox any more.
chris doesnt work with wayne anymore and i dont think they do shocks much any more
sent Tim at altech a txt today
no responce from Erik or Decker via txt
what was the last ADS quote for what erik has? or without adjustors
-
wayne can still build. maybe fox got there inventory out of their ass by now
Mike you want a quote for a pair of 10"s and a pair of 12"s too?
-
I haven't had time to hound Decker.
May as well go ADS and stay consistent, I'm pretty mad at Fox for jerking everyone around on inventory and i've already gone elsewhere for the more important units.
-
I forgot you got ads for 571, ok. no pussing out this race I'll steal your truck and Kim haha
-
ADS will build in less than a week. Our Bro Lite shocks were ready to rock out of the box, built custom for our type of racing and jumping. Def more expensive than Fox - BUT - you can get them when you need them, and they will call/email you back!
-
With one weekend in there (9/3-4) MAYBE it can happen.
:-/

not to be a dick, but I never said I didn't want Scott's shocks. I had money for him for them at the LM race when I rolled but the shocks didn't show.

well will is ready to send PayPal now to ship and if you have been lolly gaging for 3 months on them.....send money to Scott to ship or pass on them

not sure if power steering delete and alt delete are actually legal per rules as written today
5. Engines
-Must remain stock 2.3 or 2.0
-May swap engines from different years
-tubular style stock exhaust manifold may be used on trucks that did not come with it.
-All external engine accessories must remain stock (computer, carb, ignition, etc.)
-AC may be removed.
-Emissions equipment may be removed
-Stock air box may be removed and replaced with a K&N style filter
-Engine must remain in stock location but engine mounts may be replaced with aftermarket style mounts.
-Factory OEM block and head(s) must be used and may not be modified.
-All engine internal parts must remain stock or OEM replacement.
-Exhaust system is open.
-No “power adders†are allowed; Nitrous Oxide, turbo, superchargers etc.
-
http://www.route66hotrodhigh.com/2300.html
OMG, this guy is a disaster.
I think Paul probably met him on rangerforum. I'm getting dumber...
-
some trucks are factory non power steering.
rock auto has radius arms back in stock, i just ordered two more and bushings. so both my trucks will have new arms and a spare in the trailer.
-
oh really! may be able to do some easier swapping, then, if there's a bolt-on box.
need to look at ratios vs quickeners, and if it's a standard saginaw box there may be a TON of different options out there.
-
I just picked an old year at random, 84 I think.
power and manual boxes listed. look interchangeable at a glance
pitman listed arms all specify p/s
also lists a steering rack bellows for manual steering. WTF? no steering racks listed - and that would be completely impossible with TTB anyway.
-
ya advance had one in their computer for 180$ when i was there returning my blown pump this weekend.

its 800$ to rent a D3 for a week plus fuel.

Spline Quantity: 32
manual steering box
Input Shaft Diameter: 0.76 in

Package Contents: Gear Instruction Sheet, Flushing Instruction, Instruction Tag
Pressure Port Size: 1/2 x 20

Total Turns Lock to Lock: 4.0
-
well now that makes the inputs look different, and that's not expected at all... hrmph!
-
ya i dont know there is a lot of conflicting info around.
6.3 turns lock to lock is no good though! i think im gona stick with my power box with hoses connected and delete the steering pump.
-
6.3 is perfect with my 2:1 quickener

same i guess as mine with power box and 1.5:1 quickner

so is this dead? i cant justify the hassel of storage for 2-3 uses per year
dissapointing that we only have 2-3 people interested in racing this weekend from FB chatter
-
I'm hanging on for another year to give Miller/ Decker/ Blyler a chance to come back. I think UTVs might be filling that niche for them but I sure like 1/10th the price of a UTV for this.
I think the long distances are hurting participation and it'd help to have events move around a bit more. Not a ton of trucks near my favorite track (RollingW). I'm sure the VT crew says the same thing when they drew none of us for the first Monson race this year.

awesome day of racing! only 3 of us showed up so they put us with v8 4x4 trucks. suprisingly we were almost faster than them. i led the first heat for 4 laps and then finally 2 v8s got by along with dillon right at the checker to get around me bah!
second heat opposite direction was much harder on our 2wd trucks the the track was over watered also. 4x4 v8s took over alot quicker, dillon won again.
Mike had clutch issues both heats that slowed him down. he did get 2017 points series champion though!

lets do this. updates TBD

JJ is bringing his razr.
I hope it’s not a last, it’s worth the drive. But with nobody showing up.... bleh.
I need to get 571 in the garage, then I’ll be down to fix #5. Was falling asleep for 45m if the drive from Attica, needed a nap. Too much burning at both ends!

Rolling w had first race yesterday. Schedule is posted. I shared to one of the brolite pages a bit ago.
-
Will stopped over and discussed some shop time for some needed upgrades on his brolite
i made him a buy list to fix his clutch and steering
-
Is that the planetary gear HD quickener? I broke the other one.
-
not sure what mine is.
you can break anything ;D
-
Talked to that Bill Smith guy via FB chat- he seems cool. bought Ayersmans truck, and is planing for June 5th
i told JJ to order his clutch parts he needs and to drop it off to get him to come out too. would be cool to get 5 trucks or more to rolling W
Mike you think about bringing 571 to V8 4x4 or 4x2 class? id do it
-
wills truck just left after a couple good rips around my track.
3rd turn he end up whipped around so i think the steering quickener is working ;D
-
i have like 4 XJ steering pumps. i think i might try to adapt.
Bill was talking about running an electric water pump he had that bolts up.
hoping my motor is not hurt, it flogged it pretty hard with no water pump for 2 laps till it pulled timing enough to die.
-
I let all the steam out of mine first time and it was fine the second. They’re pretty tough motors.
Friday i plan to work on mine.
-
Jeff just called me said he is heading to Attica tomorrow morning to work on the track.
i think ill pack my tractor, rake, bush hawg and join.
he has a skid steer there tomorrow and is going to work on track low spots, and track width
-
Oh nice.
I was thinking of heading out with buggy for shakedown but haven’t touched it at all yet. Worked a lot for a day off…. Waiting at vet now. 30m behind appointment time so far but got in in a day so I shouldn’t gripe.
-
i bush hawged the 3' tall infield of the track this afternoon! the cub took it great. first time i have worked the machine at load for sustained 3-4 hours.
JJ had done some skid steer work last night and He and Tucker were doing something with a water truck of some sort so didnt see them much. sun baked my arms and knees pretty good so i took off when i was done! farm hat and cooler was nice but need to throw some sunscreen in the IH for car show season i guess.

trying to convince CHIP to prep one of the parts XJs he has for 6cyl rally
-
whats the rules for an XJ in 2wd 6cyl Rally that garys daughter rules in?
pull the lights, weld the diff, new spicer joints on the rear drive shaft, pull the front shaft, and trick the trans to hit OD in 4 low?
-
Rally 2 x 4 – 8 Cyl., 4 Cyl. Stock Cars and Trucks and
4 x 4-4 Cyl. Cars
*Doors must be fastened shut (Regular locks NOT OK)
*Driver’s compartment interior panels must be intact
*Stock seatbelts must work
*All factory lights must be removed
*If factory glass has been removed, window nets must be sufficient to keep all
body parts inside of vehicle during a roll over
*Roll cage and 5 point harness recommended
*All vehicles with structural damage to the roof must have adequate reinforcement
to protect the passengers
*Single non-adjustable front and rear strut bars allowed
*Fire suit recommended
*Helmet required
*Stock engine & wheels
*DOT approved tires required, maximum of 30? tall
*Suspension may be raised up to 2? using OEM type parts or spacers
*Stock air intake box required, but can change air cleaner
*Attachment point in front and rear for easy ability for pulling off track
-
yeah that's about it.
Sarah kept threatening to want to send her Malibu in Rally class but won't help with the prep and who wants to weld a FWD diff for a one-off throwaway? XJ/WJ 6 ought to be a winner. They usually run FWD not RWD iirc. With the right tires I think I'd rather be rear ¯\_(?)_/¯
-
pretty sure Garys daughter runs mostly RWD because i remember him saying she keeps breaking the drive shaft yoke at the rear axle landing too much under power
i think FWD was only run when it was super slopy
can you just cut a hole in the trans housing, drain, weld, then patch with zip screws / rtv lol?
-
lol I wonder
-
I'll be returning from the Adirondacks this day so maybe I'll make a late appearance.

rough weekend for the 4 trucks. i think the most we have ever wrenched Saturday night on them for a race weekend
my truck:
shit fuel system both races saturday, pulled off.
cleaned and changed remaining fuel lines on pickup- mush found in pickup and AN bulkhead- fixed for sunday ran good
rear brake hard line failure, pinched off.
sunday ran hard but last in the muck first race. second race got hit hard and broke wheel/hub/drum off passenger side rear
Wills truck- he spun and endo'd / rolled saturday 2nd race.
cut rad hose
broke power steering pulley from impact
leaking t stat housing
other
all fixed and he won the money sunday
Jeffs aussie truck piloted by Jeremy
rolled sat
Hard beam bending damage. lots of chain and binders used to bend beam back so would allow steering
mechanical clutch rod issue- required fab and welding
couple new body smacks
lost a few beads, did well for first time driver
Jeff in MikeMikes truck
power steering was in op at start sat
jeff won money saturday
sunday, another belt, a vacated pS pulley replaced
clutch locked, found C clip poped out and fixed
punctured clutch line from res to master, changed
PS line leaking, shortened, still failed
1 or 2 belts failed
sunday race died upon landing- found a blown fuel pump fues in pits after
other
my truck sitting on back of it and pushed the train into trailer
sat weather and racing was awesome. super disappointed i didnt have a running truck. Sunday was rain all day, but still fun.
-
no takers on my truck still
brought up at meeting this week
also talked to will today, he said he wants to be in this year!
what race are we going to commit to? ill fire up the FB chat also.
