I have a fuel pressure gauge that you can borrow. It's a tester kind that hoes on the Schrader valve.

Is that standard?  I remember reading that something that you need some odd sized fittings and adaptes.  I read it on pirate it must be true!

I'll give it a whirl.  Yesterday was actually the first time it did it at home, so that probably wont happen again haha.

BTW last Thursday was the one year anniversary of this thing running like shit  ::)

any local wheeling going on soon?

I need to run this hog again after it actually ran last time out, just to confirm it is still a pile.

Matt may have parts I can swap about a month ago or so and I have completely failed on following up on that  ???

I have got to fix this thing or do some thing with...

Lets review

Symptoms:
Diesels randomly, key cycle its back for an undetermined amount of time.  Seems more prevalent uphill.

Non fixes:
swapped fuel pump
full tune up + coil
some sensor in the front I forgot temp sensor (was a code)
swapped ecu
new o2  (was and still is a code with new ecu)
no visible wiring issues
have a JY regulator but I cant get the old one off

To check:
1. oil in the distributor?  I have no idea what this means along with 85% or what fasteddie posted on flx, but I can check lol

2. fuel pressure?  Gauge requires some sort of banjo T adapter fitting thing. no longer available from toyota.  LCE sells a kit w gauge for $60.  I need a man to come over and swap that regulator ::).  Is there some sort of obd1 scangauge thingymabober out there?

3. Spark?  I'll get a checker

4. vacuum?  I suppose I could just replace all the hose for like $5

5.  propane swap is expensive anyway you look at it, plus I dont want it.

anything theories?

gauges on fuel and vacuum would be most useful next steps.

I bet we can junkyard something for much less than $60 to get on the fuel system.  If we can makes a 1/8NPT home somewhere I have the 60psi mech gauge on a 24-36" lead from Smike that was on dumpbus.  if dumpbus parts don't make it run right NOTHING can.

this is apparently the only way to do it without doing some drilling and tapping.  Keep in mind every bolt on this engine is perma rusted :-\

Fuel Pressure Gauge Kit 22RE

Ever wonder if the fuel regulator is doing its job? Not sure if your getting the right fuel pressure at the fuel rail? The new fuel gauge kit is the answer to those questions. This kit will replace the banjo bolt on the cold start injector with a new stainless steel bolt that accepts a 1/8 NPT gauge that comes in this kit. Included in this kit is the copper crush washers, elbow to face gauge forward, and 0-100 PSI Silicone Filled for Vibration Dampening Gauge that is 1.5".
