Smike???
Aka swap in a GM motor?
In rehards to parts more readilly available... here is a Quote from performance ignition website...
"GM High Energy Ignition (H.E.I.) parts such as a coil, module, cap or rotor will fit right on the D.U.I. These parts can be found at any local auto parts store. "

I'm not debating.
Just looking for the most reliable system. I'm having a hard time grasping the concept of old 1977 ignition technology being better than modern HEI.

I can definetly notice the difference between the 50 K coil we fried and the replacement 40 K unit that's in it now. Gap on new champion plugs is .40

Adding an ignition module doesn't sound simpler to me. Sounds like I'm adding another part to the equation that we currently don't have / need.

I appreciate all the advice please keep it coming.

I did notice on Performance Ignition website info about proper distributor break in procedure? For the AMC motors ??? I've never heard of such a thing.

Sure, cap rotor, etc...  But what if you need a distrib? Not all HEI cam gears can be just swapped.

I'm not debating.

If dura spark is 77 then it's newer than the 74 HEI.....
It's a pre OBD 2 motor.. Don't over complicate... Nothing about this is modern..
Everything modern is a retrofit... i.e. Not intended to use with
..

But it's not a retrofit..  The homework has been done.  Diagram and go..

Well thanks for the advice.
I really appreciate it.
Do it have a parts list from your motor? I'd like to compare.

Finally got propane yesterday!  Have 3-4 customer projects in line, but now i have storage so should be able to work something out.

I dont have a 2" die yet, so will need to figure out what you want size you want to do your head bang bars out of

No luck in finding a 2" die, event to modify to work with my bender.

I am going to look and see if i can chuck up the 1 5/8" die i have and make it a 2".  I have never used it.

With the amount of tube you bend I can't believe you haven't upgraded yet!
Would you stay with a vertical bender?

your bender erik is a pain in the ass and is way too slow for me, and takes up floor space.   :o

I have no complaints of my bender other than i cant do 180 hoops.... which i have needed to do like 4 times in the last 6 years
