ok so there is no x" off the dash, x" off the tub sides etc...?

just get in there with a tape and figure out width.. height can always be adjusted if ends are left long enough...?

what size do you recomend"

also.. concept of a split hoop vs. continuous piece of steel?
Is it really that much better with a slug installed?

“custom” kit...

I have a nice credit at Extreme Custom Fab and they sell CJ kits..
He generally sells a split hoop design to save on shipping, but I like the idea of a continuous piece of steel..
With my truck freight discount it’s a moot issue..

He told me the split hoop enables the width to be tailored at time of install which I get.. for a fixed hoop I just need to get him good measurements..
I just didn’t know if there was any guidelines that would put a cage in a “sweet spot”

I got foot plate dimensions and windshield angle to contend with.. that should be good enough..
Everything is left long to adjust for roof height..

The guy was nice enough to take some stuff back and give me store credit.. I just don’t need anything else and want to take him up on his offer before he forgets about it kind of thing..

I like the 3-hoop design.  I think mine will be similar.

aside from the obvious, what’s the real big benefit to using a single piece of tube for the main hoops?

these kits are sold as a split hoop that gets welded together...
how much added protection am I really gaining?

571 is slugged in 19 places

more important is the structural geometry and how its assembled.

so there is really nothing wrong with ordering the "kit" as is and it being assembled by a competent welder/fabricator  ::)

Corner "nibler" (that's the the shop guy here called it). "They are made for that. So is a corner punch, but you'd need a sturdy surface to punch into."
