degreased, sanded, and a coat of primer on the gas tank...
purchased some Eastwood gas tank paint I decided to try...
I think its nothing but a zinc rich paint.. almost like a cold galvanizing spray...

Started putting together the swing pedal assembly..
pressed in the new bronze bushings and cleaned up the hardware..

This rig is turning out to be nicer than when it came out of the factory :)  Keep the updates coming!

After showing my wife the picts from this thread she stopped complaining about me dragging a hood through the living room.

How much of the build will be with the original parts? those original parts are older than me ...

with exception of the tub, everything is original to the era....
tub designed in era spec however...

but to be even more specific... nothing has been removed (yet) from the original 1973 Jeep I purchased...
I like to buy NOS when possible.. makes fitment and function issues nonexistent…
I happen upon a large hoard of 72-75 parts... that’s helped tremendously.

Nothing dragged thought the house yet…
Don’t tell my wife, but I conceded to buy the house because of the garage space…
Mike, Paul, and Jared have seen it firsthand…

So this is a scratch build to match the '73 using generation parts? Wow.

Dragging a hood or an axle through the living room is a great way to do the following:
1. Convince wife you need heat in barn.
2. Get sent to the the banishment room for a while.

Not in the order of course.

I guess that’s a good way to put it.. I’m building from scratch...

It’s the no skimp Jeep I always wanted build...  don’t know how long it will take or how much, but I promise it will be sweet...

I happen to have more garage time now and a good enough collection of parts that it seems like I’m cruising..
but I guarantee a screeching halt sometime in the coming months....

ran into my first real hurdle with this guy..
body doesn’t want to sit square on the frame..
stock body mounts should be 5/8’s.. I think I’m getting high centered on the load floor support to the cross member..
also the 5/8 body mounts made it impossible to run the finned fabricated valve covers..  I am going to have to use stock style ones at this moment.

There were a few 15/16’s spacers in the kit and I used them at the cowl..  seemed to give me enough lift to get the rear support off the cross member.

Going to call prothane today and see if they sell individual mounts.. if not I don’t know what I’m exactly going to do..

Here is the cross member....

Some of the valve cover clearance issues...
I had some cheap 29.99 chrome guys that’s I used to paint that I might be able to get away with...

Believe it or not the body IS centered....
seems the rear cross member is not exactly even....  unsure why at this point...  something the rear bumper and a sawzall will fix...

Teaser shot.... everything lined up nice...

pre 75 jeeps are hard to find mounts for.. just the stock 5/8" spacers...

I have 2 prothane sizes in my hand that are 15/16' and 1 5/16"
I’m going to see if they can sell those individually..

Either that or buy another full kit?
Or is that still not enough of the correct size?

Can you shift backwards to gain more valve cover clearance?

Hard to tell from the photo.
