My typical fix: (jeep not charging correctly) takes 4 hours to diagnose and replace almost rotted ground cable.
Smikes typical fix: (half this jeep doesn't work) fix 52 things and upgrade the rest in the time it takes Jared to find correct tools.
You sir, are a machine.

518 miles clocked on this unit this weekend. Ran lots of blue and black trails including parts of trail 5, trail 8, yellow jacket, walk in the park blue line, quary, S trails, boot hill, trail 4, and a few other places in the park i have never been!
The black climb off CV or O? trail was pretty good limit for that jeep. After the very first trail and rubbing 2 trees on the first rock pile of the day, it was a wake up to be back in something with glass and a body. had to relearn and got some rocks stacked but we made it though!
realized on trail 5 we had sway bar disconnects! also air'd down to 12 psi which seemed to be good for the 14+ year old general MTs.
Only damage from the weekend was a shifter bezel slider that wrinkled and tore. unit gets about 12mpg @ 65-70mph no issues all the way home.
Fun trip, good reset for Chip.
need a smaller cooler.
-
my suspect also, probably needs an oring bah
Air in a power-steering system will eventually cause the pump to overheat and fail during hard use. PSC cites a few common causes for air in the system, most notably a bad reservoir-to-pump O-ring. Even if your pump doesn't leak when the engine is shut off, if the O-ring is bad then the pump can suck air when it's working. This will eventually cause the pump to whine and overheat. To check the O-ring, either put a source of vacuum to the pump and see if it bleeds down, or submerge the pump in a tank of solvent and pressurize it with 2 to 4 psi of air. If you see bubbles you need to replace the O-ring.

Loud whine whenever throttle is applied when moving forward at speed, ~15-20mph and above.
Imagine it as a whining power steering pump except it’s coming from right under the center console area. Also, the distributor whines!
Any guess what it is?? ???
-
My guess is either the torque converter or trans is on its way out. It overheats too.. (coolant pukes out of reservoir)
-
Relief!
Chip was saying very strange things that made no sense about the distrib having drag and not turning w engine.
wasn't loud enough for you to hear was it?
Curious to see true condition of this unit.

Did he forget to roll up an awning? :P

Did he forget to roll up an awning? :P
Haha, it’ll be nice if it’s that simple...
Best way I can describe it...
I think either trans or torque converter going bad. It felt like a giant pissed-off power steering pump screaming directly under the center console.
You must be deafening in there with all of that whining?
(we drove ~50 miles to the uhaul store to pick up the trailer)
Yes...
DEAFENING
Like A Jet Engine AND A Chain Saw...!!!

trans pump could whine like that? I know tcase fluid looked good, wonder if trans does or not
