Title: Kitchen Hauler 1.0
Post by: M4wdFab on May 10, 2013, 09:28:30 AM
taged at 30,000lbs Gross
tripple 10K wet axles
17.5 H rated tires
42' length (need to confirm)
paid 2K$ (need to still pay haha)

Light hookup was round 6 so we got one tail light working off a dewalt battery for the 40 mile hawg home nightrider style, ridding dirty no paper

She needs work is an understatement, will be pretty good once its gutted.  im expecting about as much work that gifford did to his.

price was right for more storage and axles atleast.

She looks tall.  Still 8' wide?

Leave the kitchen stuff in it and make food for everyone at Rausch...  ;D

Post by: M4wdFab on May 10, 2013, 09:43:17 AM
really tall, didnt measure width.  wheel wells might need rework, but they are solid enough to drive over no problem.

Thing is huge. How long is Gifs? Cora/Eriks?

Plan to tow with your truck or getting serious about something big now?

Ramp door width is a harder potential issue to fix than wheel wells.

plan to get something big to pull

wont fit on my truck, barely fit on Matts dually with .6" clearance to tail light smashing.  There is a metal rack to hold 6 propane tanks under the goose

gota be 2000$ in aluminum diamond plate in this thing lol  its everywhere.  there is a sick piece of cutting board we are going to use for engine skids on the cars also worth like 100$

worried about finding a spare wheel, with 30K lbs in tires, i guess thats not really a big consern
Title: Re: Kitchen Hauler 1.0
Post by: jacel86 on May 10, 2013, 11:27:41 AM
Don't be too worried....I'm sure we can find one fairly easily. I'll check just to make sure I don't have a used one. Bolt count?

Title: Re: Kitchen Hauler 1.0
Post by: M4wdFab on May 10, 2013, 11:34:20 AM
looks to be 8 lug chevy 8x6.5

they are solid steel wheels that appear to be reversable.  i "think" they are lug centric, but there is some type of load spreading ring between the lugs and wheel, i couldnt tell if it was part of the wheel.

can you run retreds on a trailer?  I guess ill deal with that after a plan is made.

Caps are fine. Just not for steers.

Check tire dates. Sounds likely they're nearing scrap age even if not cracked and checked.

Wish I could find some SRW 17.5s or 19.5s cheap. Damn wedge.

i may have some 17.5 or 19.5 SRW wheels for sale soon.  Ill be swaping tow rigs this month or early into next month.

Id like a MDT pulling this trailer to RC in the 25 honestly.... but that might be a stretch

the dodge is squatting lol

got all scrap steel out of this thing except the ice bin full of tarps (500lbs+ lol), the 100lbs of stainless or so, and one of the gas lines running through the frame rails. plazma'd off the propane tank rack from under the goose.  that thing went boom when it fell, holy heavy.

cut down 2 shelves, piled all the pipe and shit in, stacked the other two shelves on the fridge and hotwater tanks. ridding dirty like 10' tall in a short box haha.

pics tomorrow at work lot   ;D

filled a 5gal bucket with copper also

swept and shop vac'd the front 2/3'ds of this guy yesterday, cut off more steel from the floor and removed refrigeration controls / rear breaker box.  this thing is unending in shit that i remove.

Almost got a clean floor, just need to pitch another couple yards of trash

need a bigger ladder to get up on the roof and asses that whole situation.

who wants to help wire this hog

i hate wires

i will buy the plug and i think i have wire to make repairs.

10gage wire ran for brakes :o  will a normal brake controller work with 3 axles? i assume the juice is adding up lol

floors are not screwed down so everything is accessible and shouldnt have to crawl under the trailer at all.  looks to just be some broken wires in the back by the door, and some shitty wire nuts at the brakes that fell apart, and lack of ground anywhere.  we got one light working for the treck home.

Still unknown where and how the marker lights get power.  i see one green wire that goes into the wall that looks healthy.

Easy. too bad there's a club meeting. I'd rather be wiring.

Most controllers are good for 1-3 axles.

I got trailer brakes working.  Tested on one tire that is majically in the air works, pins my battery charger.  Hooked up some broken wires under the floor and happy to see all upper marker lights functioning.  Just need to crawl under back gate to replace the cluster supplying power to tail lights.  Shouldn't be bad.

Title: Re: Kitchen Hauler 1.0
Post by: mr.mindless on May 31, 2013, 11:10:27 AM
They're about the same - but at least with a wire nut you have the wires cut there already and you're not putting a wound in a continuous wire run that you're going to have to trim back a foot on each side after it all turns green and stops working

my paint process is very forgiving.  i hit my small trailer with a coarse then fine wire wheel to get all the decal gunk off and then sprayed it.  looks mint 3 years later.

drug to rausch and back.  Needs much more pin weight.  not really gona work out with buggy where i thought, and living quarters up front.  had to use trailer brakes only to stop some sway on the way home.

tires run hot, but seem to not be wearing funny with trailer dog legging to passenger side about 10" for unknown reasons

stopped and put some oil in all 6 hubs for fun (first time)

Once you get the living quarters in there, that'll add a lot of pin weight.  All that lumber, appliances, supplies, fluids, etc...

It'll be fine.

maybe another 1000lbs of living, but really thats not much lol

how and where do you empty a waste storage tank?

Real toilets are extremely easy to install. Cut a hole get the toilet ring thing screw it to the floor then wax ring between that and the toilet and bolt the toilet down and you are done

"dump station" or "RV dump station" are the magic words. Some but few truck stops. Most campgrounds. Rest areas in more popular rv destinations. No idea what might be local.

If you have a clean out in your apartment main put an a garden hose it'd be easy to dump at home. Not so easy to get that rig next to your building. In the future, a clean out or a septic inspection tube are fine.

some creative controls will be needed for it to be used.  it is a gravity no presurized tank.  in about a 2minutes it made a half gallon of water hot enough it was uncomfortable to my hands.  so if figure some type of 5 gallon holding tank that i flip a switch on 10 minutes before i want to take a shower im probably good.

Since you are doing the floor of the trailer anyway, figure out where you are going to put the shower and just put a grate in that section.  Cover it with a thick rubber floor mat when traveling.  That way, you still have usable floor space...

also learned in this 1.5 hrs of discussion, that no matter how many times you politely request any type of document that defines "recreational Vehical" they cannot provide.

As soon as i fibed and said that the trailer has a shower, tolet, and living quarters all of the sudden that was ok.  i was baffeled.

Girl on phone number you call to set date for road test says all you need to do is show up with a vehical or vehicals that the sum of GVWR is greater than 26k on the door tags / trailer tags.

just dawned on me that i should call and verify if i can just take the test with the truck not hooked to a trailer.   its a 37K GVWR if you just look at the door tag.....

thats actually what i was thinking of asking you.  sounds way easier to parallel park a truck than a truck and 42' goose

they must expect people to borrow vehicals before they get the liscense to practice.  Im gona call and ask the lady i signed up with.  that would elimnate the grey area of the main plated trailer also.

I should get one as well, as the new truck is 12.5k so I'm 500# screwed right off the bat. Apparently R is recreational and not RV...

as we found out what Sharon says is not what smikes BF at the DMV testing area is willing to do. The best and smoothest way to pass the R test thing is find someone with a big camper that puts you over 26k and it will go smooth. Other than that it will be a argument and waste of time

BUT - if you get an R in an RV and it's an argument to get it in something else, what's the damn point when it'll be the same sort of roadside argument with A Guy in a Purple Tie if he doesn't like that you add up to 26,500 or 55,500 regardless of how noncommercial you really are? I dug around for R permit details a couple years ago and found NOTHING and I know smike found NOTHING that defines wtf a recreational vehicle is, so I guess it's all in how silver your tongue is and how much too tight that stylish tie is come roadside day.

im with nick.

hear your concern mike-  if i get stopped with a big truck / big trailer / camp gear / wheeling stuff id hope id have a chance at educating said officer about R permit and Recreation.

If you get pulled over with 3 of Aries cars on a trailer, you would be F'd for and rightfully SOL.

you with mule, troys buggy, coolers, camp gear, again- i think you would be find to show your over weight, have a recreational vehicle endorsement and are fine.  (assuming GVW's are not exceeded)

you push the handle in for high, and pull the handle out for low.  amazing- how did i not realize this before.

i picked the back of the international up 2" with a buggy on the pin with one arm as i didnt realized the ball lock was jammed.
