taged at 30,000lbs Gross
tripple 10K wet axles
17.5 H rated tires
42' length (need to confirm)
paid 2K$ (need to still pay haha)
Light hookup was round 6 so we got one tail light working off a dewalt battery for the 40 mile hawg home nightrider style, ridding dirty no paper
She needs work is an understatement, will be pretty good once its gutted. im expecting about as much work that gifford did to his.
price was right for more storage and axles atleast.

-
She looks tall. Still 8' wide?
Leave the kitchen stuff in it and make food for everyone at Rausch... ;D
-
really tall, didnt measure width. wheel wells might need rework, but they are solid enough to drive over no problem.
-
Thing is huge. How long is Gifs? Cora/Eriks?
Plan to tow with your truck or getting serious about something big now?
-
Cora and Eriks is 42' mine was 40'
-
Ramp door width is a harder potential issue to fix than wheel wells.
-
my is 35 ft
-
What year is it?
-
Ill get a tape on it tonight in the day light.
Its titled as a 1990, 9050lbs on the title.
i bet right now she is 12K easy with all the shit in it thats going to come out.
i am thinking a grand in tires and a grand in interior materials ill have a 10k trailer for 4k
i could pull an axle and probably be find what what i need.
i thought eriks was 44'
-
Ours is 44'
-
plan to get something big to pull
wont fit on my truck, barely fit on Matts dually with .6" clearance to tail light smashing. There is a metal rack to hold 6 propane tanks under the goose
gota be 2000$ in aluminum diamond plate in this thing lol its everywhere. there is a sick piece of cutting board we are going to use for engine skids on the cars also worth like 100$
-
worried about finding a spare wheel, with 30K lbs in tires, i guess thats not really a big consern
-
Don't be too worried....I'm sure we can find one fairly easily. I'll check just to make sure I don't have a used one. Bolt count?
-
looks to be 8 lug chevy 8x6.5
they are solid steel wheels that appear to be reversable. i "think" they are lug centric, but there is some type of load spreading ring between the lugs and wheel, i couldnt tell if it was part of the wheel.
can you run retreds on a trailer? I guess ill deal with that after a plan is made.
-
Caps are fine. Just not for steers.
Check tire dates. Sounds likely they're nearing scrap age even if not cracked and checked.
Wish I could find some SRW 17.5s or 19.5s cheap. Damn wedge.
Tapatalking in traffic
-
i may have some 17.5 or 19.5 SRW wheels for sale soon. Ill be swaping tow rigs this month or early into next month.
Id like a MDT pulling this trailer to RC in the 25 honestly.... but that might be a stretch
-
34' deck
8' over goose
8' ceiling
103" wide inside :o
77" between current fenders
Found a ton of cutting board material in the cooler, and 4 or 5 8' shop shelves in yhe back room
-
This thread sucks with out Pics.
-
overwidth trailer?? Weird!
-
Weird or awesome?
-
I think the sides are fiberglass over ply on this thing? In ass pour rain looks like leaks are obvous from appliance vent holes. Not terrible.
-
not even a little bit awesome if it ever gets pulled over and measured
-
What's the max width before its considered oversize?
-
102"
Have been gutting this thing all day. Many treasures.
-
the dodge is squatting lol
got all scrap steel out of this thing except the ice bin full of tarps (500lbs+ lol), the 100lbs of stainless or so, and one of the gas lines running through the frame rails. plazma'd off the propane tank rack from under the goose. that thing went boom when it fell, holy heavy.
cut down 2 shelves, piled all the pipe and shit in, stacked the other two shelves on the fridge and hotwater tanks. ridding dirty like 10' tall in a short box haha.
pics tomorrow at work lot ;D
filled a 5gal bucket with copper also
-
Nice!!!!
-
lighter than i thought!
1800lbs of tin 175$
36$ in copper and brass
a cool 211$ off purchase price!
-
swept and shop vac'd the front 2/3'ds of this guy yesterday, cut off more steel from the floor and removed refrigeration controls / rear breaker box. this thing is unending in shit that i remove.
Almost got a clean floor, just need to pitch another couple yards of trash
need a bigger ladder to get up on the roof and asses that whole situation.
-
Any pics before you gutted it?
-
not really. it was too overwellming i had to get to work haha
pulled the sweet bent ladder of the front last night and removed some other broken trim hooks and such.
worked on buggies and jks though :-\
-
Spent almost all scrap money on electrical stuff. She is 120v wired and lighted with T8's
-
New ladder welded on. Roof gutted and all but one big hole patched.
-
Aluminum spoolgun utilized? Sounds like it's close to race-ready!
-
Got a steel ladder and needs lights and tiresand two walls taken out.
-
Drive over fenders done already ?
-
Sure they are fine. 1/4 waxing done. Fawk
-
Two walls gone. Maybe use the wood to patch the foor.
-
worked most of the day on this guy.
finished waxing passenger side
pulled diamond plate and 2 sheets of rotted floors
got half the green glue spots off where the cooler was
probably should pull rest of the floors and then do the wiring
-
240$ in lumber
rotted floors removed, new 3/4 ply cut to fit. gona seal up bottom side and do wireing before fastening down.
-
got a plate and registration today, 95$ for 5 years not tax no safety :)
-
who wants to help wire this hog
i hate wires
i will buy the plug and i think i have wire to make repairs.
10gage wire ran for brakes :o will a normal brake controller work with 3 axles? i assume the juice is adding up lol
floors are not screwed down so everything is accessible and shouldnt have to crawl under the trailer at all. looks to just be some broken wires in the back by the door, and some shitty wire nuts at the brakes that fell apart, and lack of ground anywhere. we got one light working for the treck home.
Still unknown where and how the marker lights get power. i see one green wire that goes into the wall that looks healthy.
-
Easy. too bad there's a club meeting. I'd rather be wiring.
Most controllers are good for 1-3 axles.
Tapatalking in traffic
-
well maybe club meeting at M4, and then pizza instead of 50/50 chance of hot bartender at nashvilles?
-
I may attend this months meeting!
-
Going that way if you want to car pool.
-
http://www.etrailer.com/faq-wiring.aspx
-
see? easy.
-
I got trailer brakes working. Tested on one tire that is majically in the air works, pins my battery charger. Hooked up some broken wires under the floor and happy to see all upper marker lights functioning. Just need to crawl under back gate to replace the cluster supplying power to tail lights. Shouldn't be bad.
-
get rid of ALL wire nuts
they have no place in anything mobile.
-
or anything in weather. or anything with stranded wire, really... they're just terrible!
-
Are they worse than the sweet hack and taps you don't like in my jeep?
-
They're about the same - but at least with a wire nut you have the wires cut there already and you're not putting a wound in a continuous wire run that you're going to have to trim back a foot on each side after it all turns green and stops working
-
Sitting back on new tires, thanks Jared!
-
also picked up (8) 11k tie downs last night at TSC
-
Don't forget to get a replacement axle oil hub thingamabob. I really just can't remember the word for it.
-
You don't wanna lose your axle oil!
-
thanks for reminding me! need to grab hub to take to regional- counter guy said he might have if its infront of him
-
I can run to to the place up on Lyle for trailer stuff if they dont have it
-
Brad's has many useful things on the shelf. They'd almost certainly need a measurement or a sample though.
Tapatalking in traffic
-
ya regional guy said brads too on lyell.
its a dexter 21-36 should be about 15$

26,980lbs with buggy

drive over fender framed out on driver side
-
decided this guy is going to get painted. just cant see putting in the 100+ hrs of strip and prep to have it still look like ass.
going to hit it with a sanding block, mask and spray.
-
I hope it sticks. That stuff is awful shiny. 400grit oughtta do it. I hope. I have a d/a from erock you can borrow if you want.
Tapatalking in traffic
-
i was gona go at it with 120 mesh
my paint process is very forgiving. i hit my small trailer with a coarse then fine wire wheel to get all the decal gunk off and then sprayed it. looks mint 3 years later.
-
Old one looks great, no doubt about it.
Tapatalking in traffic
-
im tempted to try rolling on the paint
-
drive over driver fender done
LED lights came in, i goofed and ordered the wrong kind. need sockets or something bah!
trying to by a contraban gallon of rustoleum black gloss today took 45 min of my time FAWK me
-
drug to rausch and back. Needs much more pin weight. not really gona work out with buggy where i thought, and living quarters up front. had to use trailer brakes only to stop some sway on the way home.
tires run hot, but seem to not be wearing funny with trailer dog legging to passenger side about 10" for unknown reasons
stopped and put some oil in all 6 hubs for fun (first time)
-
Did you ever replace the plastic on the hub to actually keep the oil in the axle?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
-
Once you get the living quarters in there, that'll add a lot of pin weight. All that lumber, appliances, supplies, fluids, etc...
It'll be fine.
-
dont know a lot about this stuff.. but could you create some sleek storage area for heavy items up front?
built in and around your living area..
-
other than taking two trucks, i really dont see any other practical way to add 4K pin weight.
i had eveything i normally would take racing up in the front of the trailer.
maybe another 1000lbs of living, but really thats not much lol
-
What if you take the front axle off the trailer. Little more leaver action going on :)
-
Can't imagine its that bad. 10 hours in a non air ride unloaded tow truck after 7 in a car and I was totally fine. Other than food poisoning.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
-
cut the wheelbase in half. it'd get much worse.
if the trailer has a stiff ride that adds one hell of a kick, too.
-
i could barely walk friday night. saturday morning i was good. saturday afternoon something wrenched when i bent down to pop oil caps off and fill at a rest stop.
its bad. it was tolerable with the wedge and buggy up top.
-
bed and ice sunday was a good descision. worked in the shop last night at 1/2 pace and being carful. think im repaired for now.
so- anyone have a good mexican to block and paint this trailer in a day for like 200$ not looking for showroom paint, it cant get worse. roll it on i dont care.
thinking about just trying CL for a random painter guy
-

back pain is no joke. when my back is "out" all I can do is lay on the floor and not move.

this.
Got to take care of it. Develop core strength and stretch daily. It's the only back you'll have and it will be a day/week/month/year/career ender if you wreck it.

back on topic.
I want to see pics of the inside of the trailer now that its gutted!

looks like a pain to put in an actual toilet. im pretty ignorant about these systems.
how and where do you empty a waste storage tank?
-
you open it up just before you hit the express way ;D
Campgrounds have dump stations. I dont know of any other options.
-
just put a toilet with a hole in the trailer... bucket underneath... line with poly bag.. problem solved.
-
like it to be a little more civilized, and asusual i hate anything to do with packing, prep, teardown.
i like to arrive, put toy out, pull toy in, leave.
-
Real toilets are extremely easy to install. Cut a hole get the toilet ring thing screw it to the floor then wax ring between that and the toilet and bolt the toilet down and you are done
-
ya- i have done that 3 times.... was referring to like the tanks and plumbing and discharge hookups....
-
id like it to be half way nice, it sucks not having a bathroom at the shop sometimes lol
-
"dump station" or "RV dump station" are the magic words. Some but few truck stops. Most campgrounds. Rest areas in more popular rv destinations. No idea what might be local.
If you have a clean out in your apartment main put an a garden hose it'd be easy to dump at home. Not so easy to get that rig next to your building. In the future, a clean out or a septic inspection tube are fine.
Tapatalking in traffic
-
its pretty much that simple. a tank with a 4 incher discharge. twist on hose, open the valve and the poo comes out.
-
best thing would probably be to find a junk camper and pull the tank and toilet.. but hate to say it but most camper toilets are not made for men..
-
no way in hell i would service or removed used shiter equipment from anything
lol
$$ sometimes are well spent- looks like 3-400$ for unit and tank

46gallon water tank and pump ordered

Did you buy that Liberty?
-
Its currently owned by Aussie locker.
depending on IFS issues, it might endup being bought out by M4. I found it for Bill, 03' 227K, 4CYL, 5 speed, 4x4, clean. price was right.
-
4 cylinder, 5spd liberty? Cool
-
yes! clean inside and out. AC bipassed, needs tires, radio broke, but CD/USB works
needs tons/37s/psc steering and the plastic around the fenders gone.

At that wattage, will it be enough for a shower? Seems like the house units are in the thousands of watts...
-
some creative controls will be needed for it to be used. it is a gravity no presurized tank. in about a 2minutes it made a half gallon of water hot enough it was uncomfortable to my hands. so if figure some type of 5 gallon holding tank that i flip a switch on 10 minutes before i want to take a shower im probably good.

Since you are doing the floor of the trailer anyway, figure out where you are going to put the shower and just put a grate in that section. Cover it with a thick rubber floor mat when traveling. That way, you still have usable floor space...

So that diesel generator is not for sale or sold? Be sweet to have one of those baby's chugging away on veggy :)

i dont know-
it has to be a scam site.
if you google them there is no discussion or reviews or complaints- to me that means it doesn't exist.
i like the diesel one because it has 12v but its too loud- the Honda is nice, and BIG, but same loud as little 2000i's

me want a quiet honda to run welder and trailer. 6500 quiet clean power. 20 amps at 12v would be nice too for 12 lights

road test scheduled for legit 26K RV rolling!
-
To get an R endorsement/ permit thing?
I'm curious if all states are supposed to respect that
Tapatalking in traffic
-
I believe other states are supposed to honor it so long as your legal in your home state. The only exception I know is a CDL generally doesn't carry reciprocity in other States till your 21.
-
took 1.5 hrs at DMV and i had to educate 2 DMV managers with documents they provided.
it was an awesome time.
Cost 10$
-
also learned in this 1.5 hrs of discussion, that no matter how many times you politely request any type of document that defines "recreational Vehical" they cannot provide.
As soon as i fibed and said that the trailer has a shower, tolet, and living quarters all of the sudden that was ok. i was baffeled.
Girl on phone number you call to set date for road test says all you need to do is show up with a vehical or vehicals that the sum of GVWR is greater than 26k on the door tags / trailer tags.
just dawned on me that i should call and verify if i can just take the test with the truck not hooked to a trailer. its a 37K GVWR if you just look at the door tag.....
-
If they don't let you use your truck since it's not registered for that much you can take it in mine if you want.
-
thats actually what i was thinking of asking you. sounds way easier to parallel park a truck than a truck and 42' goose
they must expect people to borrow vehicals before they get the liscense to practice. Im gona call and ask the lady i signed up with. that would elimnate the grey area of the main plated trailer also.
-
Let me know I can do what ever
-
no updates for a while, so is this finally over?
-
huh?
road test Sept3, havent worked on the trailer, its painted both sides, LQ stuff just sitting in it. Have been working on the buggy pretty hard.

I remember you buying shower and toilet stuff for it, so I was wondering about that. How did the install go if you did it?

havent touched it since last race. 571 still dead inside of it. probably taking one of the other trailers this weekend.

I should get one as well, as the new truck is 12.5k so I'm 500# screwed right off the bat. Apparently R is recreational and not RV...
Tapatalking in traffic

i still have not done anything after the cluster.
I told Nick good luck.
my black trailer and wedge do not have weight plates on them.
my big trailer will not fit on a short box mega
im tagged at 55500lbs with 4300 and kitchen lol
-
if you are 12.5K + 14K trailer, id like to see what they say- you being a normal pickup and trailer taking 2 off road trucks to a park and <26K
-
* >26k
I thought I had seen a VIN tag on kitchen hauler listing 3x10k axles & 30k GVWR. Oh wait, it's white now. other black trailer
-
I'd been thinking of calling Kaufman and asking about the possibility of a 12 or 13k VIN tag
-
if your bored, call Sharon at the Testing Investigation Center
585 987 4400 ext 200
And ask her if an R" permit is the correct path since you are >26k plated with ram and goose carring to OHV parks for recreation.
-
as we found out what Sharon says is not what smikes BF at the DMV testing area is willing to do. The best and smoothest way to pass the R test thing is find someone with a big camper that puts you over 26k and it will go smooth. Other than that it will be a argument and waste of time
-
those are my favorite.
maybe Jokinen's new hauler.
BUT - if you get an R in an RV and it's an argument to get it in something else, what's the damn point when it'll be the same sort of roadside argument with A Guy in a Purple Tie if he doesn't like that you add up to 26,500 or 55,500 regardless of how noncommercial you really are? I dug around for R permit details a couple years ago and found NOTHING and I know smike found NOTHING that defines wtf a recreational vehicle is, so I guess it's all in how silver your tongue is and how much too tight that stylish tie is come roadside day.
-
im with nick.
hear your concern mike- if i get stopped with a big truck / big trailer / camp gear / wheeling stuff id hope id have a chance at educating said officer about R permit and Recreation.
If you get pulled over with 3 of Aries cars on a trailer, you would be F'd for and rightfully SOL.
you with mule, troys buggy, coolers, camp gear, again- i think you would be find to show your over weight, have a recreational vehicle endorsement and are fine. (assuming GVW's are not exceeded)
-
so this hawg has a two speed jack.
you push the handle in for high, and pull the handle out for low. amazing- how did i not realize this before.
i picked the back of the international up 2" with a buggy on the pin with one arm as i didnt realized the ball lock was jammed.
crazy
-
fits 2 buggys, 8 KRTs, and like 6' of deck left in the back lol
-
two speed jacks are the bee's knees!
-
Why would you want to give up all of that space?
-
because it is a sweet storage garage
